Before I jump headfirst into this I figured I’d ask the more seasoned gearheads what to expect. I’m putting a S10 T5 into a 1948 Ford and was wondering what to expect around the center X-member. I was hoping to retain the stock wishbone mount location but again, I’ve never been down this road in this year ch***is. I plan on utilizing the Offenhauser Flathead to T5 adaptor bellhousing so that dimension is finitely tied to the clutch shaft location. Hoping I’m overthinking a simple situation. Thanks guys!
I ended up splitting the wishbones so it would clear. Had to do some t******* of the sheet metal at the front of the X member as well. I used a Speedway kit, and there are others out there. Mine was certainly not a bolt-in as you can see in my build thread: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/a-tale-of-two-cities-1948-ford-build.1021019/. Good luck with it!
So I’m looking at these pictures, the T5 fit in the x-member above the stock mount? What did the stock wishbone hit that necessitated is splitting?
