How strong is a T5 from a 94 Mustang HO? How does it compare to the top cover Ford 4 speed fron say a 66 Mustang or a 66 390GT Fairlane? Will it grind into dust the first time I really give it all a supercharged 302 with 4.30 locker and smaller slicks has to give like a smallblock Ford T10 would?
    Thanks.

In my experience it is fairly close to t10 in strength.......with the slicks and supercharger don't expect it to live a long happy life...............

Id say to go with the TKO-500 or 600. The 500 will withstand 500 ft/lbs of torque and the 600 will handle 6. They will also fit in any spot that a T-5 will Perfectly. A good source is Dark Horse Performance.

More work to fit it, but a T56 6-sp is not much more than the TKO....very strong

Also, bear in mind you need a '94-95 bellhousing or put a '91-93 input shaft in that******* - the '94-95 T5 has a 3/4" longer input shaft to accomodate the re-design of the SN-95 platform over the earlier Fox platform & they changed both the bellhousing & the input shaft...

Having said that, check on the late-model Mustang websites like corral.net or saleen.com (if they're still around) - plenty of folks are running supercharged stroker engines with the T5 behind 'em. A good aftermarket shifter with positive stops goes a long way to keeping these*******s alive.

The next concern is how heavy is the car & how much hook-up do you think you're going to get...if you're still going to spin your slicks (ie - traction limited), it'll probably live...they're not made of glass.
