Question for anyone out there with a t5 trans in their car, what did you guys do with the hole for the speedo gear? Does it need to be plugged/capped to keep fluid from escaping? Or is there a way to adapt the speedo cable on my '54 to work on the T5?

Demonspeed, I had a custom speedometer cable made by Texas Industrial Electric (email above) that fit my stock 56 Ford speedo and the 89 T-5 ******. It was only $60.00 and it fit/ works great! I talked to a gentleman named "Steve" there and he was very helpful. Hope this helps!

Canadian Hot Rodder, that little bit-o-info would be a great addition to the FAQ sticky

That blew my mind, I might have to look into those.

I just used the speed sensor and put it back in. I would like a functioning speedo one day

Ah I think I may be missing the speed sensor then. My trans just has a hole in it a the moment.

I did the same thing, just cant remember where I bought it from. I have an autometer speedo and a tko trans made by tremec, just have to use a rope to get the correct length and they made the cable with the correct ends. And you need to get the right speedo gear to, they have many different colors and # of teeth. The guy Canadian mentioned above probably has it all

Speedo heads and the cable ends are Stewart Warner for Fords and Chevs. Find the length you need, and look in the back of a book for the ends you need. The part you want is on the shelf. I don't remember if my cable is 69 Torino, or Mustang, but I have done three, and they were all the same. Cost, about 20 bucks.

The guy "Steve" at Texas Industrial Electric was great! Just told him what I had (year/make of speedometer, year of ****** and cable length) and he made up a perfect cable for it! i happened to have the right gear (burgandy) for my 3:55 gears and my speedo is accurate to within 3 mph according to my GPS! :)
