I have a Mustang WC T5 that I need to swap an S10 tail housing onto. (1352-208) I'm confused on what tail shaft I need. I don't care about retaining my speedo cable since I plan to use GPS. Can I use the more common electronic speedo tailshaft? And is there any real difference in the NWC and WC S10 tail shafts? And are all the S10 top covers the same? Thank you!
Check this on you tube. Modern drive line, T5, what you need to know part 1. It answers some questions about whats different between the 2 housings.
I'm in Ft Worth Texas. I watched all 3 of those videos and they are comparing an aftermarket mechanical housing to their in house built housing. The Modern Driveline housing is an amazing piece and takes all the guess work out of the swap....but $920 shipped is tough.

I've been interested in getting a T5 to put behind my 59AB so I'm trying to learn all I can. The above articles were enlightening. Correct me if I'm wrong, the (or a) reason I see to swap the tail housings is for a more favorable shifter location? Larry
Correct, especially for vehicles with a smaller cabin. Allstate Gear offers a reproduction GM S-series truck tail housing with a mechanical drive speedometer output for $229, but it's been out of stock for a month or so: https://www.allstategear.com/S10-Borg-Warner-T5-Mechanical-Extension-Housing-p/t5-7a.htm
Since you are in Texas, maybe check out the wreckers across the border in Mexico. I picked up two S10 transmissions at the first place I went to on vacation in Mazatlan, dirt cheap.
