I have early 1990's T5 from S10 chevy truck that I am rebuilding for my Hot Rod project. It is Non Word Class. I noticed in some videos and on a diagram that There is a part called " Needle roller bearing spacer" or "Pocket bearing spacer " that slides on the main shaft before the input shaft slides on. It appears that this item is not in many of the small parts rebuild kits being sold, Can you tell me what the situation is on it? I just cant seem to find it, There are some that were sold out on ebay but no live listings. I could use some advice......Parts number or other. Thanks

Did your transmission have the caged roller bearing 66B, or did it have loose needles 66A? Perhaps the spacer is not used with the caged bearing?

but that's just a guess, I don't mess with modern manual transmissions, only old ones.

Understood It is the Non World Class Model where the bearings are loose.

You mentioned its a Non-World Class T5, but your diagram with the circled spacer states "WC". Check this out...

    Ok, that makes sense.

So, did your transmission have the spacer in it? and if so, can you re use it? If not, did it look like everything in that area was working OK?

Yes you want to put a needle bearing spacer back in your build as without it the needle rollers can move back and forth. There are a couple different part numbers for the non worldclass small parts kits And parts sources are getting scarce. Just buy the WC small parts kit and use it from it. Also regardless of what anyone tries to tell you Do not use gear oil in your NWC T5. Use a good synthetic ATF like royal purple or Pennzoil Syncromax. There has been many debates on this subject But all the Pro builders who are well known will tell you the same thing. Gear oil in a T5 is a bad idea regardless if it is WC or NWC. I have been building T5's personally since before I was married and I am about to celebrate my 24th wedding Anniversary. If you can't find the spacer PM me and I will look and see if I have any good used ones in my hardware box.

Was it Paul at MDL that told you that You didn't need the spacer? You might be ok without it but it does not hold oil? it is a spacer that keeps the needles from being able to move back and forth. And the only reason I ask if it was Paul that told you that is I know he knows better. Whoever told you that it is there to hold oil should not be rebuilding T5 transmissions. I think their skills are better suited at McDonalds or Taco Bell. Just saying.
