Many older tacho's or rev counters require a driver or trigger circuit. Many have electronic components that are no longer available. In particular the Sun Electric Corporation http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...ransmitter-something-a-guy-could-build.18714/
and the EB series units. Looking about the internet I have found and built this circuit for only a few £/$. http://www.dinoplex.org/tachoconversion/
I thought I'd spread the word because having these units repaired professionally is very expensive. Most people know someone who is 'into' electronics. It was my job for over twenty years and can say this circuit was very easy to build and calibrate. I hope it's of use to some of you. Happy motoring.

Thanks for the information.. I have an Autometer tach that I want to use on my 60's gasser. Have called Autometer and the tech had no idea on the model/part numbers and any parts availability..
