Technical Tachometer Connection

  1. This tach was offered to me locally.
    Will this work on my car?
    If so, how would I connect this to my A?
    If it helps here are the relevent specs on my car:
    1928 Ford Model A Roadster
    Engine: 3.3 I Flat 201ci. 4-Cylinder
    Head: Miller OHV
    Camshaft: Touring Cam (330 Lift on Intake and Exhaust and .244 Duration on Intake and Exhaust)
    Bolt-Ons: Aluminum Timing Gear and Under Drive Crank Pulley
    Ignition: FSI Electronic Ignition Centrifugal Advance Distributor Recurved for Miller Head
    Transmission: Mitchell Synchronized 3-Speed with15% Taller 1st, 2nd Gear
    Rear: Banjo 3.78:1
    Intake: Snyders Single Down Draft
    Carburetor: Stromberg 97 Chrome
    Charging: 12 V Alternator
    Exhaust: Red’s Ceramic Coated OHV Header with Smitty’s Glasspack

    the tach you posted needs a sending unit. A tach match will get it going

    they are the experts, make sure to send them pictures of the tach and the info on your car

    my Miller/banger OHV conversions will turn higher than 4k RPM, I don't know about yours....
    did you talk with Sean at FSI about your application? He would set your dizzy up specifically for your application.
    also...every Miller style OHV I know about and have tuned need 38-40 degrees INITIAL advance to perform...

  8. @winduptoy The specs on my car are above. The dist. was recurved for the head by FSI. It runs great and goes faster than I'm willing to go in a 98 year old car.
