looking to put a tach in my 1953 customline I found some that will fit where the clock is ... 2 1/6in but they are all 12 volts ... I need one that will work on 6 volts any ideals on how I can do this?

Voltage reducer. Here's one for $14 from O'Reilly.

Don't think that will work, its meant to reduce 12 to 6, he's already at 6. You're going to have to search for a 6 volt tach or a mechanical tach. They're out there search online.

granted im 12 volts but I just did this swap. I put in an electric 2 1/16 tach where the clock went. I used the clock bezel and housing and it works great. I had to use the original clock bezel because the hole in the dash is more like 2 1/8 and the tach I bought would fall right through the hole.
