I need to reattach the roping(wind lace?) around the inside of the door frame. I was told to remove the panels around the door and install tack strips to hold in the roping. Before I start removing parts from my 56 Ford, does anyone know where is a good place to get tack strips? And any advice would be appreciated.

Your tack strips are already there, the edges of the headliner may be hiding them from sight if you look where the old windlace is attached you will see a metal strip with points facing upward, that is your tack strip. There are no tack strips running down the sides of the door jams the flat part of your windlace is glued in there use 3M black.
