Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by beantoad, Feb 3, 2008.

  1. I need to start my search for a new taillight lense , but don't know what it is .
There are a couple short #'s , but no manufacturers name .
    Can anyone recognize it. ?
    Thanks

  2. Pretty sure those are early 60's GM, like a Pontiac or Olds.

    Maybe..
now that I looked at some pics, no.

I've had a car in my yard with those lights.

They look like the ones cranky old rodder down the street has on his 49 ford. Why he swapped for the og's is a mistery. I think he said they were of a plymouth???? I'll try and find out...Let you know.

  7. I compared some pics, and early 60's Valiant looks like a winner.

  9. You guys are the best !
Something said Oldsmobile to me but couldn't find one like it
I'll head over to ebay right now and check out the Valiant lenses.
    Thanks

Bruce , here's another photo .I think it was a 5 window or a Sport Coupe , is there a way to tell for sure ?
I bought it from a buddy this fall . He bought it in 1973, drove it for a year and put it in an old garage . He told me it had a 383 Merc . It's long gone , but thats O.K. , it deserves a flathead . Should have fire in the holes next weekend .
The best part is it came with an ownership, as we call them here.
    Thanks again guys !

Shoot some pics of the rear edge of cockpit, everything behind doors. Back of top edge of door, too. Might be able to figgeritout...if that dip along top edge is remnant of something stock, I think it's going to be sport coupe.

  12. Hi Bruce
Here's a couple of photos I had in my computer already . Let me know if you need other areas as well .I can take more tomorrow.
Would there be a measurable difference in the door width or cockpit length between a Sport Coupe and a 5 Window ? Or some other measurement like from dash to say, the trunk lid.
It really doesn't matter , but I thought it would be nice to know its original body style, if possible.
    Thanks !

    Jim
