Hey. I'm building a '33 Tudor. I went with '33-34 tail lights on '32 brackets. Attached to side of frame. Here's a pic Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That looks awesome!!! The problem is my frame rails don't shoot back that far... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I was going to suggest a pair of round lights hung down low. You don't really see 'em until they come on. We used to get 'em off old pickup trucks. I have one Deitz unit here. That was bare bones when I was a kid.
Dude your ride is rad!!! Love it! But thinking about what you said... I might want the person behind me to see if I stopped or not Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I really like your input! Yes it's a cool piece but it's just out of place on my ride.. I might end up going with the teardrops. Honestly trying to be unique requires money or experience Or time. 3 things I do not have in abundance. Nothing wrong with going bare bones Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
50 Pontiac is honestly an awesome idea but my louvered panel won't let me do that Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Louvers are awesome, and those lights are definitely what I want. Lights are a go, but louvers stay. Also that style hot rod on the pics gives a real midlife crisis vibe Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Try this.... Google "50's tail lights" then select "images". Look around and see if anything intrigues you. Change the search to 40's, 30's, etc to view different periods.
I really like the first ones you posted up, great for a custom for sure, but not what you want, understood. Not sure what could be used, sorry. I would be interested interesting to install some behind the louvers all over so the entire lid lights up in slots. Sent from my Z958 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Stolen from the web but I don't think you can get a much cleaner simpler look than with these tail lights!
Personally, id have the taillights in mind and set before louvers were added - you might have to close a couple louvers up to get flush mount taillights in it. If your actual frame doesn't come back far enough , make a frame extension bracket to mount the tail lights too or fabricate the tailights stands so they bolt to the trunk floor.
While I like 47 Chevy set into the panel, with the louvers, don't think you have enough room to carry it off. How about 32 Ford light and housings but recessed into the rear body sub frame half the width of the sub frame. Cut a half circle and fill the cut area, mount the light with 3/16 to 1/4 " clearance. Thinking 32 instead of A to get the larger lens. Canuck
Honestly I like what you chose. Recess them and lose the panel with the holes. Use a smooth panel with either your plate or club plate, maybe punch a few louvers on each side for balance. I wouldn't do what everyone else does IMHO. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Just trying to offer up my opinion. It looks like you are on your way to a nice hot rod. As far as the mid life crisis jab , I'm 69 years old and I don't know to many people who are 138, so mid - life it's not.... Good luck.
I apologize. That came off too co**** , everyone has their preferred style and I respect it Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
French in some 56 Buick taillights. Dare to be different. Sent from my Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
these most likely won't work well with the louvered lid, but...I like the look so, I'll throw it out anyway. If not the OP, some other Model A owner may benefit. My oldest brother did this to his "school car'' back in late 50's He grafted '41 Dodge tail-lights to the stock Model A. They really fit nice. Some have suggested that any low-mounted lights that have been suggested may be difficult for others to see.... These Dodge lights will definitely show up as they're high up on the fenders. And they can readily accommodate turn-signals if needed. The driver's side rear light can barely be seen here. The pic was taken after an exhausting trip from NE Nebr to Peoria Ill, Top speed 45mph, even on some new sections of I-80. I called upon The Moose to see if he could mock up an example from some random pix, He was most generous with his time and talents and it definitely shows here. (the pix were pulled off the 'net; so if these are HAMBers' cars, I appreciate the donation) then I asked for a little color and a stock spare tire... The Moose came through ! Very subtle. And functional.
