So I have been trying to figure out what to do for tail lights on my '53 mercury. I have been looking through old magazines, internet, and books. I am running the stock set up right now which I really don't like. I have noticed in the magazine and whatnot that alot of the custom cars don't have reverse lights. I'm not sure if these a strictly show cars, which some of them don't look it, or if on old customs do you not need reverse lights that are white?

Unsure what your question is really asking. Do you wish to delete the reverse light all together ? Make them into blinker's ? Is it OK not to have them ? Please clarify.

You don't have to have back up lights in Texas

Yes. Some manufactures during that era did not have them or it was an option on others.

  7. Backup lights weren't even standard equipment on many cars until the mid/late 60s, much less required. Certainly not in the 50s...
