these are excellent on your red and white car

  2. Really Mark? Years ago you and everyone else commented that your Futurian tail lights looked like sex toys, yet when I mention the same today after you ask opinions you use your majic Mod powers to delete my comment? Weak. You asked for opinions, live with them like every average HAMBer here does. Not everything ANY OF US do is a homerun outta the park at first. Tough love and input IS a good thing. I like the diamond version best so far.

  5. This is the HAMB. Well known online that if you post something up on the Net expect to get opinions, right, wrong or indifferent. For you to have the means to erase comments on your own post that you do not agree with is just lame. The rest of us deal with feedback like real adults. You knew the first version was not perfect. I kinda dug it. It WAS a reference to something you said online 20+ years ago with the Futurian. Which I will still say is the best 60s style show car ever. No BS

I THINK I’ve figured out that even if YOU can justify how cool something is and belongs here, even just as a reference…if Mark disagrees and shit-cans it…then so be it. The flip side of that is also absolutely the case. But I think this is also explicitly stated in the bylaws that what moderators say goes, so it is what it is.

  9. It's all cool. What many of us said here 20+ years ago may not fly now. Many of us neither had grand kids NOR kids at all. Mark will nail this. He has a way with building cool chit!

TACKY ....is the word that comes to mind.
IF it's a split-window and you're doing that to it.... I will personally hunt you down and...Well you get the picture.
Not even those Caddy lights of yester-year looked good on 'em !

Looks like great workmanship, different approaches, historical links, and carrying a theme. I see lots of things at different shows I appreciate more than I like. Seems fitting here to me.

If I had half the talent and ambition, I’d be out building a set of satellite lens for my 55 bird instead on typing on this board.

I like the first ones but maybe smaller white rings, I mean maybe smaller diameter. The red part is fine but Thinner white rings and a little smaller diameter. I like the first ones anyway. Have to see all of them at once lit up. My 62 impala would look cool with those! Lippy

  21. I like the diamond ones too. But with the first batch - and the thinner rings - how about this: Shorten the tube about an inch to tuck it in just a bit. Maybe two rings instead of three?
Then put that small chrome bullet in the center like you had it in this pic.

Repeat 5x. Always happy to make more work for ya! :D;)

Another change....man I'm going to have to dig my "die-cast" corvette out and make yet another modification, actually I was still working on changing the grill when it got set aside last time, it's one I have had for quite some time .
It was already red/white , so far the extra taillights have been added, door handles removed...still has primer spots,
tire and wheel combo changed to match, started changing/modifying the grill then it got side lined.
Maybe it's time to finish up the grill and see what you decide to do with the lights for sure .
You know your going to have to do something with the front ones now.
I will watch for up dates.
    The diamonds are cool....

I like the ray gun approach with the 3 white rings, maybe a little shorter but with a peaked red end, shaped like a 56 chev taillight maybe. Love the lighted effect. You have made them anyway, run them and see if you still like em in a months time.

The diamond ones are really neat.
I think the other ones protrude too much outside of the body, I feel the fact that their end being flat clash with the canted design of the rear body panel.

    Hello,

Your Corvette has classy style with the three red taillights on each side. Not much is going to improve that look. An earlier drawing of one of our favorite Corvette race cars from 1962:
    upload_2023-3-5_2-50-27.png upload_2023-3-5_2-50-49.png
Two from the factory just did not do it justice… So, three balances the rear and also, gives the following traffic a nice warning, like a 3rd brake light… oh, it is a third brake light… yes!
    upload_2023-3-5_2-51-31.png
Out of all of the samples you had, not many look like they were officially DMV approved for daily driving. The red versions look smooth and do not have the red reflector design incorporated into the lens.

They may be red, but when we cut out red opaque laminate plastic in the exact circles for the 58 Impala three lenses, they looked flat and not impressive. Plus, the light was not as reflecting and bright as it should have been in the daylight or even in the darker times. Sure, they lit up, but it was just not the same as D.O.T. or DMV approved lenses.
    upload_2023-3-5_2-53-17.png
So, my brother went out and bought two other exact red rear lenses from the Chevy dealer and we installed them in the place of the white lens. We mounted a small white light under the license plate to light up the ground on backing up or in reverse. When the 6 red lenses were on in the daylight or night, they were bright as stock. The guy in the next lane saw 6 red lights on, that meant he was behind at the finish line.

You have some interesting choices, but the addition of flat panels, regardless of “matchy-matchy,” makes the Corvette a little less intimidating. It looks as if someone stole your original red lenses and just put on some leftover plastic. If the red lenses are not the standard type with some reflector stuff built in, or the exact color/type, they may not be legal for street running. Check your local DMV…

Now, this is a nice rear end… and overall look… Impressive and points for creativity!

With the diamonds you are carrying over a design theme to the rear of the car to improve the looks. And it works. With the ray gun lenses you are trying to make a design that does not work, fit the look. It ain’t going to happen. One of the big bitches about kustom cars is changing something for the sake of change or points. Go with what works like the original or diamond lenses instead of something that does not fit the design. Just my 2 cents.
