Just put a new set of 50 pontiac lights in my T coupe. Heres my problem. The car HAD 65 Mustang lights which had a seperate blinker bulb. Now I only have one bulb dual filiment. My problem is this. my tailights work and so do the turn signals but when i splice in my brake lead it makes Both my turns blink. It seems that the brake lead is feeding my turn signal back to the other side.
I tried sending a seperate lead from the brake switch but it still made both blink. How in the hell do I get power to both brake lights without screwing up my turn signals. Im using an old type turn switch that clamps onto the column. Any help is appreciated ive rubbed all the hair off my head.

I've run into this on a number of occasions. You need to route the brake light circuit through the turn switch so it cancels the brake light on the side that's blinking. How many wires on the turn switch? I believe you will need 5.

if the turn signal switch has 3 wires, it won't work with a single rear bulb. but if you have 6 wires it will.

or do like that other guy said, and get one of those magic boxes from a trailer place, you can run the two turn signal and one brake light wire into it, and get two turn/brake wires out, one per side

Turns out to be a six wire set up. There was a link on another thread that showed hoe to wire it up. Everything works fine now, Thanks everyone for your help. I HATE WIRING! t. DAy

  6. A way to fix this [;) If you do not have a regular turn signal switch on column].....
Pick up two of the small Halogen FOG LAMP bulbs at WalMart[3.49]
cut a 1/2" hole in the rear of the taillite housing- these mount on a tab on the bulb].
Solder [or use a tiny pop rivet] it to the housing...
then wire this bulb seperately as your brake bulb......they are very bright.
