No, no, no and NO! Man, Ron's second post with the black coupe nailed it. It looks right at home and not tacked on or borrowed. Now, let me guess, it is '42 Ford/Merc? Right? That or the '49 Lincoln units.
Mai Ki, I did not mean the chrome part... It needs that... I ment the metal pod that holds the lens ( and chrome ring ) and bolts to the fender...
I think a recessed light with the stock unit would be the best look, stock lamp but different! I do like the 60 chevy lamp though.
like the VW lenses Rocky. JimC, the third one is ok, the second one is ugly (mostly the car not so much the taillights) ad the first one made me wanna BARF!!! LOL hope none of those are your cars i guess i really have nothin possitive to add so prolly should shut up now.
Yes, subtle is the key here, 'cause it's still a hot rod. I like the stock lenses I just don't care for the way they stick out. This is a good look and very subtle. The wrap arounds look good but this would be the least costly. Thanks for all the input.
Hatch I'm LOL Donzie Cleatus might have found the best idea for the lights I've ever seen. I REALLY like the look. If the designers at Ford would have thought of that it would have been in production. Instead they screwed it up for guys like us to fix. Lucky us. Eric P.S. Can't wait to see the sparks fly when the Chebbie gets its haircut at Mikes. You gonna be there?
1. Best idea for cheap: like Fat Hack suggested, but remove the trim from the top of the bucket and mold the bucket to the fender (see vintage photo). 2. Good idea for not-too-much: the '49 Lincoln lights are an excellent suggestion and would look better on this car than on the Lincoln. 3. Good idea for way too much: '40 Stude taillights mounted horizontally. There was a killer convert that made the magazines back when, that used these taillights, and it was gorgeous. Unfortunately the taillights are extinct and repops cost the earth. Good luck!
I see that Lee Lenses are available for '42-'48s. This could be a good look. I like those bubble lenses. Moving them down is still an option.
