I saw The Dave Brubeck Quartet in concert live at Red Rocks in about 1962. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Great, great artist. R.I.P.

  2. A Jazz genius ! Take Five was played in 5/4 time, one of the most challenging. Thanks Dave for the music, you touched so many. JW

  3. ,,,,,,,, a sign of the times,,,,",Video no longer available",,,the man's been gone a couple days and the damn lawyers are in overdrive,,,:(

  4. I will never forget how good the Customs Then & Now building sounded when take 5 was echoing through the air.For me that song will forever be linked to that building with all of those old customs.

R.I.P ......Mr Brubeck ...thanks for all the great music.

He's an Artist a Pioneer. We've got to have some music on the new frontier. -Steely Dan

Never saw Dave live but a couple of years ago I saw his son Chris with his band Triple Play in concert at the small theatre here in my sleepy little northern PA town.
He explained how his dad was inspired to delve into intricate time signature music when he heard a street musician he happened past someplace in the middle east.

RIP Dave, you're making music on the next frontier now.
