Event Coverage Take a ride in my '55 at Kingdon

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SamIyam, Oct 4, 2009.

  1. Ran an 11.90 at 117 best... spinning the***** out of the tires. It was dirty, windy and packed... but we had a great time!
I mean... they didn't even flinch when I rolled up to the line with my buddy Jeff in the passenger's seat! Hahahahaha!

On this particular run, the tires spun REALLY bad. If you have good speakers, you can hear it. I took my time on the one-two shift... hit 3rd, then on the 3-4 shift it popped out of 3rd because I had my hand on the shifter in preparation of the shift, and as soon as I put my foot up on the clutch, it popped out! Damn! But I recovered okay. Bummer was, the guy drilled me on the tree, and then I ran a quicker ET... I was gaining on him... but I dropped back on the shift blunder... we'll get him next time Toad.

Get your good speakers out and turn it up!

  2. It's been 40 years since my '55 has raced here at Kingdon... the car told me it was glad to be back.

Thanks for the ride. That is the closest that I'm going to get to going down a drag strip this year. Next year will be different.

Probably not going to make it down to CHRR... I should be at Eagle Field next weekend though!

That's my buddy Jay West you're running against. We went down there on Sat. to watch him run. It was a nice turn out with some nice cars but the down time between runs was a killer. The wait in line to run was 1-2 hours at times. All in all a good time though.

  20. I ran quicker than your buddy did, but he drilled me on the light. The lack of traction really messed up the reaction times I'm used to getting.

Concerning the wait time... the trick was not being in the street class... in the modified class, there were fewer cars. I got 4 runs in, and did other stuff between runs, so it wasn't too bad.

The only complaint I have... is they need to put some gravel down near where all the food guys and vendors were, it was a mess. and then that dust blew on the track.
