Hey guys I need to strip a 37 ford frame,I need some parts, I need the space after I sell the frame. Biggest challenge is to store the banjo rear end I'm thinking taking the torque tube off and driveshaft. Is that a straight forward job? Any tips or tricks? The frame was "restored" in the recent years so it's pretty clean... Thanks in advance
Removing torque tube just involves removing its bolts at the banjo end and front radius rod bolt. There are some washers, a speedometer gear and a bearing at the forward end that come out easily. You will want to note the washer bearing gear sequence for future use. Removing the driveshaft is a bit more difficult. There is a splined coupling between the driveshaft and pinion shaft. To separate them, you will need to file the heads off of two pins and then drive them out with a drift. Not difficult, but seems to take me some time. Hope this helps.
If you want to be traditional, you just lean it up against the wall outside with the torque tube straight up to catch water. preferably in soft moist dirt to rust up all the brake parts. Thats how I usually see them at auctions
