As some of you might know,I bought a 32 Plymouth (it's really a 33) coupe by following up on a ad on these boards that "Preacher" posted. A HELL of a good buy. Especially since a guy I know had told me he would give me the front half of a 33 Plymouth coupe right here in NC that had the good fenders, grille, hood, and bumpers the one I bought was missing. Somebody had given the NC coupe to the guy who told me he would give the body to me,and the only reason he even agreed to take it is because it had a 392 hemi in it with 6 97 Strombergs on it. This guy is ONLY interested in 54-62 Chryslers, and he wouldn't take home a running original 33 if you gave it to him. In fact,he didn't even want the intake and the carbs. All he wanted was the long block as spare parts for his newer Mopars. I was negoiating with him to buy the intake, carbs, and linkage, and was even thinking about just buying the whole engine. Anyway, the last time I had talked with him was maybe 3 months ago,and he said he was going to go get the car soon. I called him this morning at work to see if he had gone to get it yet,and was prepared to go get it and pull the engine for him,and he told me he went after it a few weeks ago and it had been hauled off to the crusher. Sometimes life really ****s. Can you imagine anybody dumb enough to crush a 33 Plymouth coupe with a 6 carb 392 hemi in it?
Could be,but not likely. Rural people, and they gave it to him to keep from calling the junkman or paying somebody to haul it and the other cars off. Gawddamn yankees are retiring into that area, and the first thing the SOB's do is start screaming about old cars in people's back yards, and how "What we really need are stricter zoning laws so it will be just like where I used to live." I really do think yankee women scream "Property values" when they ******. IF they ******,that is. Had one of the nasty *****es complain to me about all the antique parts cars in my yard, and I live 700 off the main road and am the only house up this dirt road. No neighbors within a mile, and she lives several miles away. I told her if she didn't like it she didn't have to go out of her way to look at it. I also told her she needed to take her old wrinkled *** back up north. I lost a 48 Ford tudor with 49 Plymouth bumpers on it and a 61 Olds ambulance with a good 394 in that same area a couple of years back because they were sitting so close to the main road you could see them riding by,and the neighbors to the rear they had sold the land to complaned about them until the country hired a rollback to come pick them up and haul them to the junkyard. They even added the rollback fees to their property taxes. It's not a stretch to say this old retired couple ended up paying somebody to steal their private property. Yeah,I know. I should have gotten them after they were given to me and before the county had them hauled off.I just couldn't arrange to do that at that time.
I personally know of a complete 1932 Chevrolet 4dr in that area that was dragged out of the woods behind a farm house and sat on top of the trash pile and burned when they logged that farm out. This is a rural area, and the people used to drive a car until they needed another one,and they would just park their old car out back and go to town and buy another one. When I asked my local buddy why he didn't tell me the Chevy had been back there,he said "It was parked there so long ago I forgot about it." The burned and twisted hulk was still sitting there in plain sight last time I drove by that field, fenders and all.
Arthur, us yanks have that problem up here also. The problem is upity people with nothing else better to do and can't keep there noses in their own yards. I tell people when you start paying my property taxes I'll sure as hell do whatever you want with my property. later shawn
good cars getting crushed ****s, yuppies ****, pain in the *** neighbors really ****, taxes also ****, time for beer, beer does not ****
I know. I made a mistake. I SHOULD have said "yankee CITY PEOPLE". Rural people up north are really no different than rural people in the south when it comes to private property. The problem is rural northerners don't retire and move south. They stay right where they are and enjoy their life at home. It's the life-long apartment/townhouse/developement dweller that retires, sells out,and moves to a rural area in the south. They have never lived without rules telling everybody what to do,and just can't handle freedom. They are like rats who miss their maze. It scares them that people can make up their own minds about what to do and how to live. This is even becoming increasingly true about city people in the south. Two generations ago they were people who grew up in rural areas and moved to the city for jobs. Now we have a whole generation of these people who grew up with deed restrictions, homeowner committees, and other such nonsense who do the same thing their yankee counterparts do. They move to a rural area to retire and then do everything they can do to make it just like the city they left.
I knew what you meant. I take notice lately that it's not just auto's, they are complaining about farms and the country air that comes from them. It's enough to make you sick because they are ruining the rural areas. later shawn
I grew up living across the road from a dairy farm....the air smelled all the time but we never complained. It smelled like dairy air...true story. For those that are a little slow....dairy air, derriere but still a true story
Why do you have to ba an ingorant ****? It's not Yankee or Southerner it's ****ing Yuppies. It has nothing to do with where the person is from or wether they are from the city or the country. So shut the **** up, yeah it's a tragedy that you missed out on the car, yeah it ****s, your ******** at***ude is just that ********.....
And why don't you kiss my ***? Who the hell died and made you God? And these people I am talking about are NOT "yuppies". They are too old to be yuppies. They are city people moving to live out of the city for the first time in their lives when they retire, and the lack of rules drives them nuts. Or maybe YOU are more qualified to tell ME about the people I meet than I am?
Just because they're from the north doesn't make them bad you ignorant country hick! WHY DON'T YOU SHUT THE **** UP.. You haven't added one positive thing to any thread that I've seen, you are giving all southerners a bad name with your ignorant ramblings, crawl back in your hole...
No just trying keep the ignorance at bay, it would be like me saying all Texans are bad... and we know that is just not true... or that the guys in PA **** 'cause they're Yankees... but then again maybe ignorance is bliss... or maybe all old people are bad... it's just stupid to be that ignorant...
Yeah but then again a lot of people think southerners are *** backwards hillbilly ****s. Putting someone down just because where they are from is just plain ignorant, period... Hell I have just as many problems in my area with Southern yuppies and old people as I do Northerners. An *** is an ***, where they are from plays no role in this...
