I have a AUTOGRAPHED copy of His "Custom Cars of the 1950's" From 1993,
    NANNY NANNY GOAT!!!

  2. About a dozen years ago, Andy and I corresponded by "snail mail" and I bought several of his books. He got me back into my roots with my cars. He and his wife are super people. Am really glad he is still going strong!
Having arthritis, I can relate to how he feels. It can really slow down your projects. Thanks for giving us an update!!!!:D

  3. Made a late night trip to the mail box, BAM! my books were there. All personally signed to me; he even sent me some DVDs. What a nice guy. Looks like I will be up late watching car show footage...Thanks Andy!

  4. The DVDs are live footage Andy shot while visiting car shows, showing the cars plus on the spot interviews of people he sees there. It's obvious he knows lots of hot rodders. He sent me the 2008 San Francisco Cow Palace Show, and the 57th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show, with the 75th Anniversary of the '32 Ford. No fast cuts or rock'n'roll soundtrack; more of a video account of Andy attending the shows.

He sent a list of other footage of various events in the California area; shows, shop tours, drive in get togethers, cruise nights, pinstriping festivals, and footage of his '40 Merc being built and driven, dating back to the early 90s. They are listed by date and running time, and sometimes specific cars; tell him what you want, and he puts it in until a 2 hour disk is full. He also has footage from the 70s and 80s, which were not on this list, but but you can inquire for more info. Send him an Email at Merc40@AOL.COM and see what he's got.

  5. I gave Andy a call tonight to thank him for the extra DVDs he sent with my books, and we ended up talking for a couple hours. If you don't have his books, you are depriving youself of some of the greatest hot rod and custom photography ever. Any hot rod or custom fan should hit Andy up for his wonderful books, they are really that good.

Andy's '58 Impala was the cleanest semi-custom ever ... always wondered if he took pictures of his beater cars & trucks, wrecking yards, stuff sitting in back yards, etc. I can spend hours with the magnifying glass in his '50s Hot Rods & '50s Customs.
