The dude that bought it was jacked when the hammer fell. Hopefully he's a Hot Rodder that drives it and not some indoor show queen.............

I watched it go across the block last night. Beautiful truck! I was shocked at the fact that it went for $165,000 but Barret Jackson brings a premium! With the 10% buyers comission and sales tax, as someone above mentioned, it would have sold for over $180,000 dollars!!! I thought that the Atomic Punk might bring that kind of money, but it might go over $200,000 who knows? I'm sure the Tangerine Scream is an awesome truck in person, but that price tag probably puts 99% of us out of the loop on that one! I couldn't even imagine driving something like that the way I drive mine. I'd be afraid of all sorts of things! No trips to Wal-Mart I guess? But then again, to whoever bought it, that $180,000 was probably a drop in the bucket!!!

I watched it sell IMO, the players were playing and the pissing contest was in full force. I am glad he got ALL THE MONEY for it.

I wouldn't be surprised to to learn the buyer simply bought it as an addition to his/her collection, with no real intention of ever driving it. In many of the magazine articles I've read about it, the builder says it was built to drive. IMO it should be driven! That's fairly easy for me to say because I'm not the one who built it or the one who owns it! The details on that build are outstanding! I love that color too!

We were all at the shop last night hanging out, eating pizza and drinking beer for our monthly Adult Beverage Night, so we missed it on TV. I recorded it on the DVR though, so we'll all get together and watch it. Pretty exciting though! Congrats to the new owner! If we can get a hold of him, I want to send him a Tangerine Scream Tshirt.

Like you guys said, hope it bodes well for the Punk tonight. I know at that point at least, it was the highest selling vehicle of the event.

I was amazed. The market, economy, etc. If the truck brought that much, the Punk will have to go higher. Aarons stuff is always so awesome.

Congrats on the sale, its an awesome truck! Hopefully the "Punk"will bring big money as well but, there is no rhyme or reason to this BJ stuff. Ive seen clones go for more than real deal cars and obviouly nice cars go for pennies on the dollar it is all a crap shoot. A pissing contest between 2 big egos will bring stupid money.

I'd think that the buyer most likely bought it to put out on the show circuit as a feature car. It's one of those cars that will get guys to drive a ways to an indoor show just to see it including most of the guys who posted on this thread. But you never know what or why in these deals unless you get the word straight from the guy who bought it.

A special thanks to all involved in the creation, build, tweaking and fine tuning to make it what it sold as last night. <?xml:namespace prefi /><o:p></o:p>

I'm guessing that sale price allowed a profit to be made on the build, so many great looking cars were selling for way under market value IMO. Glad the right people were in the right place at auction time.

  15. Wow that's big coin, and having seen the car in person at WoW it's an awesome build.

It took me a few minutes to realize "idem" was Italian and means "The same".

    Thanks.

The gears are already turning in my head on the 32 shoot. I am also receiving some interest from other car owners for shoots.

  19. just heard about this thread from a friend(haven't been on here much lately).

Scott, Thanks for the recognition. And, you're welcome. It was a pleasure helping build the truck while i was at HRCC. I know we all enjoyed it. I believe that Grille shell is one of my crowning achievements during my time at there, and it wouldn't have been possible with out you. I know i've said it plenty, but thank you for the opportunity. I can't wait to see the 32 Plymouth on the road. she'll be a site to see. I bet Jane's chomping at the bit to get it done too, especially now that TS is out of the stable and there's more room for her car.

Keep us posted on the 32

I'm sad to see it sold, I was looking forward to shooting it again. Shot it last year at a car show and was super-impressed with it. It is certainly an awesome ride...
