We got the tank off of the frame table last night and rolled it outside to have a look. Today it is going to Deek’s shop to have the rest of the welding done as well as the tin work and the vertical tail. As you can see it is obvious that we are not going to make it to this year’s Speedweek. Life has got in the way of that goal. We are now shooting for the October meet (if it doesn’t get rained out). We still have some tubes to trim, tubes to install and gussets to add. There is going to be a chrome-moly plate all the way around the head cage that we will fab after the welding is completed. We also still have to put in the removable tubes above the engine and fab different steering arms. The easy part is done, now it’s fitting all of the tanks, fire systems, cables, pedals and things that will slow us down. Wish us luck… now I’m going back to work.

Nice Fab work guys....What are you doing for firewall? Looks like you going to have a time airtight sealing the engine compartment from the drivers compartment. They are pretty strict about that in tech.....Great looking tank. Are you guys gonna come out to the salt anyway? I know the tank isn't nearly ready but you might want to take it out to get a pre-tech. That way you know your still headed in thew right direction and you will get some pointers from the guys that have been around for a long time. If you do you might want to go as early as possible. They are starting tech early this year cause of the amount of entry's...Thursday I believe....see you out there....Lucky

Some of us are going out. I'm staying here to work on the car. We have a few personal friends that are coming by from time to time who are tech inspectors. They are making sure we are on the right track. We also have a few members of the 2 club that are helping us as well. ..On second thought, I may come out on Saturday to take a peek at a few cars. It's only a 1 1/2 hour drive....

Dude, that thing is looking killer man!! You might need a stronger center link! J/k. I think I might have to move to Utah and hang with the "THROTTLERS POSSE". As soon as I sell the maroon 32, I am going to be joining in the Bonneville build club.

good lookin work so far.i second Luckys suggestion, always good to get a second set of eyes, or 30 sets of eyes.i have a quick question, for your front suspension to move properly, shouldn't your pivot points on your axle be vertical?good luck guys, -Jimmy-

The axle piviots at the rear of the hair pins. The brackets there are vertical. Could be the picture that makes it look funny...

...And Jimmy, I'll start house hunting for you if you want!

We built the car to go for a flathead powered record. The first few seasons the car will be powered with the SBC to get things ironed out. We haven't picked a specific record yet, just a flathead powered one...

Looking good..........I was thinking the same thing as Lucky.......you might drag it out to the salt for a pre-tech inspection.......I was told a couple of years back that they don't mind helping out early in the week, with the first weekend being the busy time. Hope to see you on the salt.
