Ahhh Haaa !!! The million dollar question.... If we only knew. I've been looking for it for 10 years. But no luck. Nobody knows where it is. Check out these pics..... The 2nd one will make you cry. Most of head firing cut off and turned into a front engine dragster. Eeek !!! I found this pic in an old hot rod trends book. Said it was dragging in Texas. Just might be it's final resting place. Hmmmmm Ryan ?? Better start looking !!! Most likely these kids that were dragging it, ended up s****ping it for a pair of rails and a hemi. But ya never know ......
what? did she really get tattoos or where you just being an *** and making fun of some scenesters/hating on people with tattoos?
Forget about the girl.... Let's get back to the tank. Anybody have anymore pics? Anyone heard stories, rumors, etc. ?
Agreed! I haven't heard any more stories or rumors about the Tattersfield tank ... but here's a higher resolution (better quality) pic of it at the SCTA Car Show: The Tattersfield-Barron car is shown at the second annual Southern California Timing ***ociation Hot Rod Show in January 1949 at the California State Guard Armory. The ten day show was signifigant for being the first Hot Rod exhibit to be seen on TV. (image from the Bob Morton Collection).
Bobby has it right. The car was at one time 'rented out' and Reg Fudge of LA ran the tank with his own motor. The picture of the tank as a dragster is the last known photo. Somebody has to know Wolf Fluid Drive. I am familiar with this photo, but did not know it was last in Texas. Anyway, the only thing that no one has touched upon is that one of Tattersfield's original timing tags was found in the late Gray Baskerville's office at Hot Rod.
Hi J, I knew it wouldn't take you long to chime in on this post. And if the tank is ever found, you still have first dibs. LOL. Any chance of getting a picture of the timing tag for this thread ?
Thanks Hemi32. I feel like a dunce I looked thru the Dry lakes Era book and must of skipped that page
Bobby, I will try to remember where I saw the tag photo. I am pretty sure I know who has it. Also, they keep identifying the tall, thin driver of the tank in the Genat book as Wally Parks. I think if you asked him, I am pretty sure it is Bob Morton, who woked with Lou Baney at Ansen and was a driver for Tattersfield. Both Morton and Parks share that tall, slender build. Also smoking the cigarrette is Frank Baron.
We need the help from the Texas racing historians. Does anybody remember Wolf Fluid Drive >>>> as seen on the early Dodge truck in Bobby Green's post?
J, Someone had told me awhile back that the wheel covers were from an old Bi-plane. Probably WW1 era. But I couldn't say for sure.
Great Thread .........Tattersfields tank is out their. Some of his old friends may hold the answer,,,,,,Like Bill Burke..
I am pretty sure that I saw the photo of the Tattersfield timing tag in a story by either Rob Fortier or David Freiburger as they talked about old Gray baskerville office/shrine. I recall it either being in Hot Rod or Hot Rod Deluxe. Can anyone else help here? Jay
Jay ... I can't find my copy to verify ... but I'm pretty sure that the "Roddin' At Random" section of the December 1992 issue of HOT ROD included some pics of Gray's office/desk.
T'was not I, Jay--the only thing I've ever done Tattersfield-related was buy one of his *****in' 2x1 intakes for my 235!
I built and drove one of these and set a record in B lakester in 61. A hoot to drive see it @ F/B.... DJF MEDIA
Looks like two 33-36 Ford bumpers overlapped to me.I've seen that done on several hot rods...pretty cool.
Hi Ryan, I would like to speak to you, 818-702-0043. I have some more pictures of the Tattersfield-Baron tank. Also some new facts for you, regards Tony Baron
Hi Ryan, The Guy Smoking in front of the Tattersfield-Baron tank is Frank Baron, my father. Wally Parks never drove the Tank....He was one of the Edelbrock camp! Regards Tony Baron
I would like to get in touch with Ryan, who posted the color picture of the Tattersfield-Baron Belly Tank. 818-702-0043 , Regards Tony Baron
