It RULES in a totally Bad 50s Sci-fi flick sorta way!

I can see a grainy black and white film on the drive-in movie screen right now...couple of greaser punks break down on a rural road one dark, forbiding night...

...a flash of light from the sky, followed by weird sci-fi movie noises...

...and two body-******ed clone drones motor back into town in a chopped 50 Chevy coupe with a future-funky UFO engine breathing through the chrome lakes pipes...

Eat your heart out, Stephen King!!! [IMG] [IMG]

Don't blame ME! He thought this one up all on his own! [IMG] [IMG]

Ha Ha Ha...just kiddin'...I think it looks kinda wild tucked into his old Chevy...it'll get the thing to where he can drive it...and drive it HARD (the only way he knows! [IMG]) and have loads of fun with it for a long time to come!

It'll keep an old Chevy on the road, and it'll free up lotsa Stovebolt motors and parts for others who dig 'em or need 'em for THEIR projects...everyone wins in this case!

It's almost spooky how well that thing fits the Chevy ch***is, too! [IMG] [IMG]

You know now you gotta put a wing on the deck lid and a can on the exhaust and neon lights underneath or that thing won't run. [IMG]
Seriously, that is going to be one cool setup. Bad *** looking engine.

I would like to see some pics of the install, trying different stuff is what makes hot rodding the fun it is.
I got a 4cyl 2cam setting in the back of my pickup I got in a deal.
I might take the fi off and make an intake and try an American carb on it.
Show us the pics of the progress. [IMG]

Sorry I didn't stop by at sis's today to help out but me and Roadstar headed to Enjenjo's in Ohio for the day. Worked some more on the RRT BBQ trailer which will be making it's debute at the Nats in L'ville next month. I've got some painting to do tomorrow but I'll keep tabs on you boys throughout the day via Cindy and if your still there when I'm finished, I'll come over.

I should have offer you my guest room to crash in tonight instead of you driving all the way back to Romeo. I just didn't think about it till now. The offer will stand next Saturday nite if you wanna sleep over.

Good luck with the swap, and I'm glad you let the cat out of the bag and I don't have to keep the secret about your choice in motors any longer [IMG]

250 hp, eh? What's not to like? If your old chevy is light enough, the thing oughta run like crazy. Run a pair of dual exhaust out the back and nobody will be the wiser..'till you hammer the loud pedal.
Hot rodding has traditionaly been to make your hot rod faster, quicker and better. If you gotta go ricer to do it, do it. I'm not sure what kinda chevy you're putting it into but you mentioned t******* the front body supports in an earlier post. I'm gonna ***ume you're using some kinda 49-54 p***enger car, right? Put it on a diet if you're gonna use this small motor. My 50 sedan delivery weighed 3300 with enough luggage to keep me in clean clothes for 2 weeks, 1/2 tank of gas, tools and an extra 6 gallons of gas in a can. That was with a SBC engine in it.
If you have a 2 door or coupe, you should be able to get it down to 3000-3100 or so. That Tie-ota engine should move that ok...
Not a bad choice at all, IMHO.
Just take off the damn toyota stickers and slap some chevrolet stickers on the cam covers.. If anybody asks, tell 'em this was a concept car made in 195? with a one-off Zora Arkus Duntov prototype OHC 235....didn't go into production because they didn't have a production transmission that could handle the torque.....your ****** is a GM one-off too....prercursor to the modern T-5..
That'll have them shaking their heads and talking in tongues.

good call on the sticker idea. i wanted to get over to my uncles machine shop and mill a nice finned valve cover and some type of cool looking timming cover for it. thats a interesteing idea on a duntov one off motor. ill have to test out my ********ting skills on some non gear heads first [IMG] o and my car is a 1059 style line deluxe 2 door with a chop. ill post a pic with this.. i was thinking about running the open lakes with it like the stove bolt was run. but i want to get it fired and see what kinda tone the open header has first. the cool thing is there is so many speed parts out there for this motor. split headers cams turbo kits ect. me and hack were talking yesterday about what it means to be trad. and we figure its not just a look. its a state of mind to isnt it? i mean back in 56 guys were yanking out there **** motors and going to the s**** yard and puttting in the newest motors of the day like sbc and rocket olds motors. so how is what me and hack are doing any diff. were just taking what is widley avail to us and using it for all its worth. i figure with 250 ponys and my car weighing around 3100lbs wet. it should have some get up and go to it. least more then enough to make me happy. and with the ever growing gas prices i will be able to enjoy my car more with the better fuel millage of this motor. i work on late models for a living. fuel injection doesnt scare me like it does some car guys i know. and if u look at what most of the big three has to offer these days you will relize there aint much. and im keeping a rear wheel drive platform with a well proven engine. and its sill a manual ****** so its still fun to drive and now i will have 5 gears and a much better rear end ratio then the stock 4:11 closed drive. if u make a pros and cons list on this swap. the pros are a mile long and the cons are few and far between.
ims ure once i make some cool one off parts for it and make it look a little more "trad" the nay sayers will be non the wiser.. any way heres a pic opf my chevy for those who would like to see what im putting this crazy motor in..

Ha Ha Ha...well, even if you DIDN'T put the Chevy on a diet, the stock 216 made about 80hp, and the Toyota six makes 250hp...you're TRIPPLING the horsepower...

...THAT'S hot rodding...no matter HOW ya do it! [IMG] [IMG]

Good luck with the swap. That mill should move that ride for another 100K miles.

Well, you know that being traditional in spirit means using everything thats available to get the results you desire. That is my style, cause I've worked on enough of that old stuff as daily drivers to know why much of it was replaced. A speedster or banger powered mod with only pre-war stuff is in the future plans, though. Then I can go race some of the local hill clinbs.(that's really a strange idea in Illinios) Much of the current at***ude is very much like the restorers vision of what is correct. There is certainly nothing wrong at all with that! Those guys are, without a doubt, the keepers of the flame.
Most of those guys would just part out Hacks beast, and only a few would put serious miles on Dirtyt's ride.

DirtyT and Hack I like what your doing, may not be the way I would go. But it is neat that such a modern piece is in such an old syle custom. I'm with Rocky on something different on the cam covers. You can always say it is an experimental engine that you came across, if you make a few cosmetic changes that don't make it so obvious as to it origin. I did like Hack's alien encounter though. I agree........ to be traditional is to use what you got or can get.

Aw, Hell...I'd help Dirty just as eagerly if he were dropping a small block or another Stovebolt in the car...I just think the Toyota idea is pretty cool in a weird way!

It fits like it's MADE for it, and he doesn't have **** into it...cl***ic low dollar hot rod upgrade...and it's alot of FUN, too!!!

The 2F 6 banger that was in my Toyota Landcruiser was based on the old stovebolt six! Maybe those twin cams have the same layout! Maybe it WAS built to fit it...in another lifetime...in a galaxie far,far away.
Now that possibility really makes use of that engine cool!
    The "Millenium Stovebolt"!?!?
