Anyone have any blueprints for a TE440 rail or any other front engine dragsters of a similar vintage? I want to make a scale model that I can eventually build for real once I'm done with college. I've been looking at some older threads and every link is a dead end. Seems like I'm a bit late to the FED craze on the HAMB.
Welcome to the HAMB. You should post an introduction in the New To HAMB section. As for your question, solid, usable blueprints for many things are tough to find for free online. Someone did the initial design, drew the 'prints and mostly earned a living from that work. They often have copyrights and trademarks attached. Some places will still make a new thing from old designs and they are also interested in keeping this detailed knowledge from public domain. That said, I would suggest contacting shops that still build the TE440 chassis and ask them politely. You can also study pictures, and as mentioned in the other posts here, buy a model and check out modeler's forums. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/new-chassis-research-te-440-build-questions.385853/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/chassis-research-te440-blueprints.129192/ There are also vintage dragster forums that may help. I wish you the best, but I will warn you, the design is not able to certify to current rules. Fabricating a dragster chassis is also not a good first attempt. There is a LOT of nuanced detail and subtle stuff between having an accurate drawing and actually bending, fitting and welding it together. https://www.cornfieldcustomsltd.com/ http://www.chassisfarm.com/kits-html/ https://neilparks.com/chassis-services.html https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/front-engine-dragster-how-to-build-one.452462/
