Les, see our own GMC Bubba as he is a distributor for the teardrop kits and I think has them in stock.
This has been discussed a time or two here. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...teardrop+trailer+plans+site:jalopyjournal.com
Here's a link to Bubba's Trailer Park. Good looking Tear, probably the most accurate reproduction out there. I just bought a used Hunter. If you do a search, you'll find a lot of teardrop info on the Hamb.
I really wanted to have a teardrop, but have realized that a "canned ham" would be more accomodating for the family. I saw one not long ago that had black primer and pinstriping on the outside. I can only imagine what the inside looked like!
Les, Yup, I'm into 'em. Have had one for about 8 years. Towed it across the country twice...once w. an Acura Integra and once w. a Suburu Forrester. Easy to tow (only about 600-700 lbs w. a tongueweight of 100-125 lbs. They're a little tight for two people. There's loads of info available and at least two very active clubs. Check out: www.Teardrops.net www.tearjerkers.net
I built this one to haul my wife's mobility scooter in and to pull with my A coupe. Had planned on building a little larger one but got side tracked with building a Dodge coupe. Found a cool site with hundreds of old trailer adds and photos, check out the Atlas Mobile Home Museum site.
I think they're really cool...my wife thinks they're too small. So....I'll probably never have one(sigh).
You bet, I have been brewing up plans to build one for a long while...once my family stops growing and the garage empties out a little... I found some bad *** plans on a teardrop site and being in the CAD field I have been customizing and researching parts for some time now. There are some really cool vintage trailer web sites out there.
My dad was a pipeline welder and we had a Rollohome. Pulled it to Canada and beck to Texas twice. Family of five lived in a 28 footer.
