Teaser pic, RANCH RUN, geeeeeezzzzzz........

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rogue, Dec 23, 2003.

  1. Been killing myself to get the new rpu presentable for the ranch run. You could not understand the pain and misery it has taken to get you this teaser pic. But, the car is way off the charts and should be done in the middle of this comming summer. If you are comming to the ranch run , it will be on display , no pics [IMG].

    Looks mouth watering.
I hope your going to do a complete photo essay on your latest masterpiece when you are finished.

And what is with the Pink engine hoist in the background? [IMG]

  3. That hoist was recently moved to the garage. Wear sun block. I got cut short on the post so I think I'll finish it.

That door handle in the pic is 23" off the ground. It is there as a joke of sorts. But the car will run them as well. All the fluid lines are ran as with all the small bracketry. There are more than 40 houres in the headlight stands, and there still not finish welded. Oh yeah, me being way over my head in this car (32,000.00) I had all the A/N fittings done in black. Gawd I hate that blue and red. I don't know how this thing got out of control but rest asured , this car is pure, low-rent hot rod.....

It costs a lot of money to build the best low-rent hot rods.

    Fact of life.

Lookin' good Jim. What is the date for the RR anyhow? It's gonna be close, but if I can get the DMV stuff taken care of, Larry seems to think the 51 will ready to roll with you guys. Are you and Carrie going to be able to make the shin dig on 1/3? I'll give you a call with the details.....

    Re: pink engine hoist...

Nobody wants to borrow pink tools.

And just what ARE those rear tires? They look like speedway-indy tires.

Those tires must be where the $30K of that budget went to. $15K a piece! [IMG]

I think Jim said that they were the new Coker/Firestone grooved rear.

BTW, the rpu is looking good, Jim. I look forward to seeing it in person. Maybe RR 2005...

  15. Knew I was gunna get chit from the money outlay . I sold my deuce and planned on building my dream car. The cost of my dream car I still throw back at the deuce wich cost 10,000.00 to build, but brought home 30,000.00. The deuce was nice, but not my dream car. So, what do you think your dream car would cost? I think I got away really cheap, if you consider the best of everythig factor in. Still has alot of vintage parts on it, but that crap is more than new crap. So if you rolled your car and banked well, would you build that dream...

My dad was a car dealer and I guess some of that rubbed off on me. EVERYTHING I have ever done with cars and bikes has been profitable...some more than others. If you build your "dream car".....and don't cheap out...you will more than likely sell that too at a profit, so go ahead and spend the bucks...better than going to the casino. [IMG]

  17. Looks really cool. What is the date for the Ranch run?

  18. The ranch run is on the 17th. of Janurary. I put alot of thoght into this years run and hope to say hi to some hambers.

I have noticed the questions on those tires. Keep in mind the car is that low to the ground. The tires are 16" from coker. I've seen the 15"ers, and they look wrong. I can remember a month or so ago seeing a car in the shop at a distance and thinking, hey those are the same tires I'm running, but something looks wrong... they were 15".No shit. Don't do that less it's all you can aford. Remember, tires and wheels make the car.......

  19. Looks beechin'!

People will scoff at the dollars... until they buid a car themselves that is of that calibur (ends up in a magazine "plural" etc.)

Anyway... about that rear tank mount... either tell me it's going to get hidden... or tell me you're going to re-do it so it looks as well thought out as the front end. [IMG]

Can't wait to see this one done.
    Sam.

    And it's HOTROD RED!
    Cool.... [IMG]

  24. How you doin up there sam? It would be nice to see you at the ranch run but if you can't thats cool . Hope to go to pleasentan this comming year so then we'll stop by.
The tank mount is actually pretty cool. I consider it a blind mount and you are seeing it. It is shaped at the bottom to follow the tank. You will/wont see it when its done. But, thats why it's a teaser pic.

That red primer was all i had, too bad i'm not running a deuce shell' this thing could of been a hot rod [IMG]......
