    Man that thing looks great!

I need to find some two doors and get with you on the conversion.

I am south of Denver and just finished 350/350 swap in my 4 -door granny '55 chevy.

    Great work!!

I've been looking forward to an update on this car for a while. Fantastic work.

  3. I saved a rough '55 hardtop figuring someone could do this with it - except swap out the entire roof while they were at it... shouldn't be much more work than if the car in this thread was chopped too -

Thanks for the post. I've been gearing up to do a 4 door to 2 door conversion on an old beat up 37 Zephyr. Unfortunately coupe door are like hens teeth so I'll probably have to stretch the front doors with another pair of doors. That may have been the prime time to chop your ride though. Best of luck and keep the pic coming. I guess I should also mention that it's going from a car to pickup with a healthy chop. Keep your eye's for future pics.

CSU55Chevy I really appreciate the updates and info. I think we're all proud of your ambition and abilities. I hope you have good weather over Christmas to pick up where you left off. It's a good way to make some money with your abilities.

That is interesting . The rust usually runs down the lower curved portion the rubber is held into place. Would it be of value to remove the body panels and use 2dr Rockers?

Thats the way, its been done lots down here in the 70'/80's we only ever got new 4 doors....
I fancied doing similar to my Holden, using the dims from 4/2dr tri 5 Chev to figure how long the front door should be (they only ever came as 4 drs so need to stretch the doors) but I eventually sold it (you could see the longers doors drawn in the dust ;) ) fancy finding another one cheap some day to build for/with my 2 y/o.

ya know,if you'd take the rear doors and shorten 'em to fit, you'd have the best 4 dr ever built!

The utility 2dr sedan had fixed rear side windows, and was a rare model. Thats the one they used for racing.

Hi all I know this is an old thread but I am going to show you all this car anyway it was a 4 door 57 chevy is now a 2 door. Front doors where lenghthend by joining two four door front doors together and the rear doors where shortened it is getting a blown 350sb and turbo 400 with a sheetmatal nine inch. Thanks for these Pictures I'm still considering doing the same thing. I was curious what Chad and his dad did with theirs so I looked up this thread. I was surprised to see you have this much done after buying the 55 Chebby Pickup. I'm trying the see how you made the connections with the sheet metal to the Pillar. You must have done a great job Cuz I cant see it. I appreciate all the pictures and Explanations you've and to compliment you on your work ethics.

The Steering wheel is on the wrong side, the doors are lengthened and the tubes are bigger. The first car had two dr doors.

If I could ever find a set of doors for my 55 Olds, I will be doing this to mine. Doors are proving to be a bit of a pain in the *** to find!

  25. Here's the two, my dad had done. 1st one was my psuedo sd/dlvy, which started life as a 4dr 57 210 wgn

Then used 2dr qtrs and doors. Made the back door one piece, and he painted it orange with gold pearl. Sorry about the bumpers
    [IMG]

Then he started, a rust free 56 4dr to 2dr project. I don't have any before pictures of the 56, cos I just looked at it as a 4dr. I think the 56, would make a great race car!

Yeah, I did mine about the same time - 2007, but used 2-door doors and B pillars and quarters inner & outer. The rear windows work like stock as does all the trim.

I saw several different ways of doing this but wanted my car to look like a factory 2-door when completed. (At least the basic body)

Here's a couple shots of before and during. I haven't had a chance to work on it seriously for a couple years. I hope this is the year to finish it.

Jay, I didn't know that those were your dad's cars in your shots. Cool that you have them. Hope your doing OK.

    Mike
