TECH: 40 Mercury chop,1 man-1 roof-1 week

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by choprods, Nov 3, 2005.

  1. I was having trouble posting pics when I started this post and I neglected that question Ron....

what I did is-align the front posts at 5" cut...then I blocked the rear CpillarsUP 1-1/2" with a spacer till front posts are completeley welded....
Then pull the rear C pillars down[with rear roof] and -;) REMEMBER-FIRST-ALIGN DOORS-THEN WELD THE C pillars.

  2. Well -I got the filler/Sanding-Primer ,operations done today and got the top completed...Its now loaded on the trailer and ready to go home.

Here are the last pics taken this afternoon......
I wish that it sat lower, so I could see its final resting place!
Please feel free to PHOTOSHOP IT LOWER -IF YOU CAN!:D

I hope I never left too much out in my hurry to post this.
Maybe this has helped some of you that are chopping a Merc of this year.

The A Pillar and window swoop remind me a lot of that red Bob Sargis Nailhead powered truck rod from a few years ago. Good job Kenny!

  8. Well- I just had someone make my day!
I had just dropped out a tank full of bad gas from another Mercury here and was feelin kinda down/low,and the phone rings.......

It was Jimmy Lambert[Tulsa]-he is the owner of this car.
He called me ,just to tell me, how much he liked the top chop I'd done on his coupe!

You know, every once in a while it really does help to give [and even recieve] even the slightest compliment, for our work done, as custom car builders.....:D

Ah, you've done it again. Truly the King of Chop, Sultan of Drop and undisputed Maestro of Metal. I add my humble praise and atta-boy. And you say you just started doing chops! :D:rolleyes:

Great chop, here is the car lowered a bit, skirts added and some wide whites and Sombrero's on the front... not sure if it will go that way... but it sure looks good to me.
