TECH:a couple small things

  1. i was showed this by a farmer friend who uses all john deere...a guard for the GM alternator fan. slips right on the normal delco alternator.might be useful on hoodless cars. john deere part # R122848 at any dealer for about $12

    the post about uses for a hydraulic press reminded me i had made this 1" louver die for mine. made the female die out of 2 pieces of 1/2" square stock , ball milled the louver shape into one side before welding together. the male part is 1/4" by 1" wide and shaped with a grinder to fit the female side , then welded to a shaft to install into my press. none of the parts are heat treated , or even made of tool steel...but have held up well on 18 gauge steel and thin aluminum..i've put louvers on column drops , glove box doors

    the best part it was free..made of s**** material. and i didn't spend much time making it , as you can see
