.......... I did a search, actually need some questions answered please It's been suggested I stretch the front by moving the crossmember forward a couple of inches. Now I'm told a 32 is 2.5 inches longer wheelbase than an A sedan. I don't want a hood thats 4.5 inches longer than stock. Here's what I decided so far: 1) I want to use my stock hood if I choose. 2) I am using a 32 radiator shell. 3) Unchopped, unchanneled 29 Tudor Sedan. 4) Split wishbones front and rear - already have them 5) Model A rear crossmember with spring. 6) Confused beyond all belief Anyways, it was suggested last night that I get my frame made without welding in the front or rear crossmembers. Then I set the wheelbase centering the rear axle in the wheelwells and mock up the front with the radiator, hood and body in place. OK, fine. But is there a formula for setting the body on the frame the first time? I was hoping to have a rolling frame - or at least the rear installed- before I assembled the body and mocked up the front. Any advice on this would be very appreciated!
i guess it firstly depends on your engine...long motors are going to make a stock A hood difficult. but leaving the crossmembers unfixed till you drop the body on allows some fudging i guess. id try that first.theres not really a hard and fast rule for body placement..not that ive found anyway.
I'd look at Rolf's build for one. There are a few more as well. The search function should pull some others ip....
Well the rear axle is going to have to be in the center of that arch in the back of the rails, so I wouldnt move that one. Your best bet is to drop the body on, center the wheel wells over the axle and see what room you have to play with up front. Personally I would stick with the blueprints from Wescotts like C9 said. I followed those when I was building my deuce chassis and it came out alright. They have blueprints for pinched and stock deuce setups. http://www.wescottsauto.com/site2003C/frame_specs.html
Huh? 1932 frame, build it with 1932 wheelbase. You're thinking too much. And you're right, your stock Model A hood will not fit .
