Last week I posted a responce regarding and trying to explain in some detail the differences in curved blade electric cooling fans. The thread was in regard to comparing straight blades versus curved blade cooling fans. The questions are generally which is more efficient and which is more noisy. I went on to try and explain that just saying curved blade is not enough, as there are foward facing curved blades as well as backward or reverse facing curved blades. Here too one is noisier as well as more efficient than the other. I always try and back up my claims with pictures, tech articles from my peers, or for the folks who actually know me my decades of engine building/machinist experience. That said, here you can see that both these examples are " PULLER " designated cooling fans. All things being equal- that means polarity in wiring, and in the pulling position installed, you have a foward and reverse facing blade configuration. So to re-cap, and hopefully help some members on the forum we can try an put to rest the electric fan noise and efficiency debate. Straight blade or RADIAL design w/ all things being equal will be the noisiest fan of all.
To help clarify, if you were in the drivers seat looking foward and the fans your seeing were turning CLOCKWISE, the fan on the LEFT is FOWARD FACING and the one on the RIGHT is REVERSE FACING. TR
The last Spal i used was a straight blade 16 incher. I was never concerned with the noise. It never bothered me and kept the engine cool.
Not that i have an electric fan on my traditionally inspired vehicle..But if I did..I wouldnt be able to hear it over my loud engine anyways just poking.. thanks for the tech.
Hahha thanks Traditions..But what would I do with an extra arm? hey on second thought, will that arm work without having to be supervised? or attached? I got a lot of things to get done around here
