    Thats really cool.
I'm wondering how many blue smoothies it took to get you thru the noise of the air hammer.:)
    Great job!

That's an awsome setup there! I like it better without the flange though, buts that's my opinion.

Great idea on the baffle and the use of the washers! Also congratulations on the Tech Win!! I can't wait to hear it in person.. I know we jammed chicken wire up the one we did, helped baffle it, but just not enought restance for a great sound..

Cool.... I made baffles once by using a motorcycle baffle and welding it to the end cap of the headers.... It worked pretty good..

That way you cold pull the baffles out with the end cap..

Great post man - well done...I didn't want a flange on mine (was after the full race look), so made some 1/4" stainless pins that go all the way through the collector and baffle, and are held in with smaller pins that go through the big pins. The big pins wanted to egg the holes out because of vibration, so I scored some short 1/4"ID bronze bushings - problem solved. My collectors point downward, so I just pull the pins, and the baffles fall out, into my hands...It's somewhat quieter than open headers (people say it's loud - I dunno), and only added a couple hundredths to the ET (so I don't race with 'em)...I like yours...................

Hey MP33 thanks for the great write up. I was trying to figure a way to keep the lake pipes open and still quite it down some but the tapered pipes were the challenge (No like the straight ones, used Motorcycle inserts in them)

Thanks for the comments guys. Looking at it now, next time I do it I think I will get the washers .25" smaller in diameter so the baffle slides up in the pipe farther. Although I like the suggestion of running them without flanges and turnouts. I'll call it "the 30mm" :D

Have you fired up the motor with the new baffles, how much did it quiet it down? I really like what you did, I like the military gun look (w.o flanges) but with turn outs it will be hidden with how you did it.

The engine is just a block for mock up purposes. The good mill will be going in after I tear the whole thing down for final welding and assembly. So hopefully in a month or so. :)

    Good tech.
Why not add a trianlge flange to the last washer and bolt them to the collector flange?
You could add turnouts to that and they would be completely hidden.

Very similar to what i made for the stacks on my truck..
I love the lakes headers and had wondered how i'd baffle them if i built a set being the cone shape of the meg..
My stacks are just 3.5" round pipe.
I really like the way you did it..simple, easy and very functional.

    Thanks!

Great post, I am so gonna follow this and build some for mine. How long did it take to punch all the holes for the cores?

Not long, I used my air chisel to start the hole then used a nice sharp centerpunch to finish it.
