It was a cl***ic! Lukester bought my decrepid 37 willys pickup a few days ago and today he showed up from Wisconsin to claim it. He brought his trailer, some loading equiptment and straps to tie down with. He also brought the biggest, burliest buddy he had. I think his name is Haystack Calhoun or something.
I brought my ol' lady's car, [excellent heater] my biggest buddy [Dar] and my digital camera. We met outside Mondamin, Iowa where the willys was parked at the previous owner's house. I had no place to store the thing after I bought it so I sold it right where I bought it....
See how innocent the little car/truck looks? Like you could just almost drive it up on the trailer, huh? I mean, it has front wheels and ****...Lukester even brought his portable air tank to pump up the tires...surely wouldn't be too tough to drag it up on the trailer, would it?

We survey the situation from several angles....find the front axle is merely sitting under the front to give the impression of being attached to the frame...it wasn't

While Mrs Rocky's dodge idles in the background with the heater on "kill", we trudge around in freezin *** weather in a 20 MPH wind, mapping out a plan...the plan is to go Midevil on the willy's *** and simply winch it off the oak tree limbs placed under the frame and onto the trailer...simple. Lukester pulls the winch cable out, berating the helpless willys with insults about it's mama while Haystack Calhoun operated the winch controls..a job I lust after....

Here's the "Tech" part of this thread...Lukester has all his **** in one sock, ladies and gentlemen. He blew a mere $49.95 at Harbor Freight to score this 12 volt electric winch and built a kick *** mount bracket to mount it on the trailer. It ruled!

I finally wrestled the winch control away from Haystack Calhoun. We needed somebody "qualilfied" to operate heavy machinery. I got a CDL....
Dar and Lukester used hi-tech 2X4s to pry the truck up off the trailer's crossmembers and ****o lifted the entire back of the truck will I busted *** on the winch control. Did I mention we found the front axle was not hooked to the truck 3 minutes before this? Dragged the little pickup right up on the front wheels after they didn't move! Good thing I took over the winch operatin duties...

The winch motor smoked, the sweat flowed and the metal-to-metal contact made ungodly noises. We humped this thing up 1/2 way and took a break to let the winch cool down...

We forged on and finally got the 37 all the way on the trailer. Good thing, because I was starting to get a blister on my thumb from operating the winch switch. In this photo, Lukester's buddy, the incredible hulk, shames Lukester while he hangs his head in shame, contemplating his belly ****on and wondering aloud if $250 was too much to pay for this POS.....

Ah, yes..a job well done! I doubt I could have done it without their help. I celebrated our success by warming up in Mrs Rocky's Dodge and shouting out instructions through the power windows as I drink one of Lukester's cans of "Sun Drop" soda pop and Dar helps load the trailer.
Hey, that Sun Drop stuff is pretty good!...the end

You know, that's almost 'zactly how we do it here in Alabammer....'ceptin I got an 8000 lb winch on my trailer...no smoke or waiting for it to cool off! Worst I ever loaded was a '51 merc with no wheels..lug studs had been torched off...it was in a swamp in the middle of a thunderstorm...but that's a another story!

    Great tech Rocky!

Wow, what a great project. (Lukester's probably got it almost finished.) Looking forward to some build up photos of that one!

Harrison, I don't doubt it for an instant. Luke showed me "before"photos of his little, chopped 35 chevy pickup. It was a collection of bent, twisted, rusty body panels, not attached to each other and thrown into the back of a truck or trailer to be brought home. Totally unrecognizable as an automotive device of any kind and look at it now! In bare metal, yet!
I firmly believe the little willys will be m***aged into a killer little car/truck by the Lukester.

Hey Luke! Post those "before' and "after" photos of the 35.

    WOW, what a pile!

good thing there were few witnesses of the last truck i hauled, winching a rolled over blazer donor onto the trailer, the combo of the weight on the ramps, and the triangulation of the cable hooked to the front of the trailer, and the front of the blazer being winched, lifted the rear wheels of the tow vehicle a foot and a half off the ground, woulda been a fun ride if the harbor freight comealong broke!

  29. Sure looks like the front of a four door sedan to me. Are the back of the doors square at the top or rounded? Also, the rear window isn't right. Guess you could call it a pickup.
