I've seen a few requests for how to lower your 30's Chevy so here's how I got my 28 tub lower and to a good stance. First you gotta start with a total basket case.... love to cut and bend metal and here it is in stock stance (4 link and a tube front axle) Kinda sits high, not bad but i really wanted to have the hot rod rake, but not to cheap out and just remove leafs from the front and loose suspension travel. So off to my buddies and his frame table we went. Stripped it down to remove all the unnecessary stuff and started to brain storm about sweeping the frame. After some talk and a sharpie we started to make marks on the frame as to where to sweep it. You can see the marks where we deciding where to cut it, either by the cowl or back by the suspension link The rear suspension link seemed the least noticeable which was the intensions. The frame was leveled off welded to the table and with a 4 1/2 grinder with a cut off wheel in hand I cut my frame in half. Then the next biggest step was to figure how much to up sweep it. It ended up being 6" up. There was a bunch of mock up time involved and playing around with different heights, but 6 seem the best and shouldn't make it look 'bent' Next was to simply weld it back up, but before the distributer was kinda close to the firewall so we did add 3" to the length of the frame to add a little more clearance for it. The body did get channeled over the rails in the front because the rail were shooting up instead of horizontal. but here the differences..... Before After So for the price of the metal and our time used, I ended up with a nice lowered look and have not messed with the front suspension or lost any travel for the suspension. Total low dollar way to get your Chevy lowered.
