very masterful,, straight pillars. Usually I prefer slanted pillars but what hapens with a 2dr sedan is that it shortens the mass of the door glass and stretches the mass of the 1/4 glass and makes the area of the two pieces of glass nearly equal and that doesn't look right, just my two cents.

  10. Personally I like the slight slant. Still, the straight pillar looks more difficult and thus impressive.

Either way looks good, I like the slight slant. The bottom line is you are the one that has to live with it. Do what you like and the hell with the rest of us. :D

Slanted has been done, straight has been done, but what I have never seen is a reverse slant. The choice is yours. Be like everyone else, or stand out in the crowd Danno

  14. Poll? You don't need no stinkin' poll. You had a vision for this awesome build from the beginning...stay with that and you'll be happier.

If not, I vote for slanted. :)

In your photoshop renderings, the straight pillar looks best. I've seen other cars that looked great with a slanted pillar, but it seems like your particular chop calls for straight.

Here are good examples of both; you are probably familiar with both of these cars:

Don't hardtop it, though. The tudor roof is too long to get an attractive window profile.

About side trim: it's hard to beat the stock '50 Ford trim, but it you're gonna change it, you should look at '54-5 Buick trim. This is the classic application, but there's also a version that works with the stock rear wheel cutout:

  19. 50Fraud, thanks for the pics! I'm almost certain I'm gonna go with straight b-pillars.

It's weird, the car looks SO much different in person than in the pics, the straight pillars really change the entire the look of the car.

I've always like the '54-'55 Buick Side trim and I've even got a complete set of it. I've seen it on a lot of cars lately though and want to do something a little different. I'd like to keep everything '55 at the latest.

Here's what I was talking about when I wrote "a version that works with the stock wheel cutouts". Probably pretty tough to find, though; I guess it would only have been used on '54 Special post 2-doors:

  28. Do not adjust your monitor, the pictures you are about to see are REAL!:D

    Got the corner tacked in.

And the answer to the long awaited B-pillar question is.....drum roll please.....

    Measure twice...

There's just something satisfying about cutting through a B-pillar with a bandsaw that's as old as the car.

Hmmm, this might get a little tricky...

Still needs a little trimming and fitting but I think it's in the ballpark.
