Its a funny story about those doors: Originally that convertible was on ebay about 5 years ago and I was a bidding on the whole car, price was getting up there but the car was pretty solid, it was in pieces, but solid. I’m thinking I have a 4 door, I’ll buy a convt. and make one car. Then this other guy came in and started to bid and we were going at it, there came a point when I gave up and the bidding continued, too rich for my blood. Well lo and behold, 5 years later I start seeing 53 Olds convertible donor parts on ebay, everything from top frame to the dash to doors. I emailed the guy it turns out it was the same car! The winner (same guy I was bidding against) bit off more than he could chew and just started parting out the car to break even. So I went at it again, I got the doors for about $425 including freight. Pretty good deal considering that they are solid doors. As for side glass not yet and this is its current state. I want to get the winshield cut first cause that is the most pressing. Starting to get less and less motivated because of that. I got teh WS, just need it cut. Rey

I'm planning on converting my '54 4-dr Bel-Air into a 2-dr soon. Hopefully I can start the work in December. I was thinking of doing a hardtop but I recently decided I'm gonna suicide the 2 doors so I'm leaving it a "post" for the extra strength needed to hang the suicide doors from. Another major part of the plan will be to give the roof about a 4" chop too. Unfortutanely I can't find doors from a 2-dr but I can find doors from a 4-dr. I'm therefore gonna lengthen the front doors to the correct length by cutting and joining two doors as that will only give me one weld seam on each door instead of two when you cut the door and insert a piece into the cut.
I love it! I' have a 48 Dodge 4 door that's going to get the same treatment plus a chop. Now all I need is a doner! Thanks for the pics. It looks beautiful!!!

My UTEs are based on 4-door sedans. The factory converted them and you can see the rear door seam inside the bed. The rear rooflne is 1946-48 Plymouth. So next time you see a four door think of the possibilities

I just picked up 2 doors and the 1/4's from a donor '49 - so my 4-to-2 project will start very soon. I will take pics along the way and write a tech article for all you 49-50 Chevy guys who want to do the same thang... Cheers, Steve

i'v been posting my car in a few different threads, so you might have already seen it, but here it is anyways... its a 50 hudson with a three inch chop in front and to liking in the back. the front doors have been stretched 11.5 inch (grafting part of the back door into the front door, and welding the rest of the door to the read quarter. hope you like it...
its funny that more people don't do this,seeing how 4 door cars can be picked up for pretty cheep. i personally think that most 4 door chopped cars look kinda ugly, and to be quite honest with you it, its not all that hard to do ( don't get me wrong it does take a lot of work, but its pretty straight forward)

Here's a '37 Ford that was a 4 door and is now a 2 door. I built the 4 door's chassis and then came across a REAL bad '38 2 door body ($50) so I cut it up with a reciprocating saw and saved every part hoping to make a 2 door out of my '37. Well, too many projects kept me from doing it and then we decided to move to Florida so I had to sell it. The guy I sold it to did the change and here are a couple of pictures, nice job! Don't worry, all the '38's body parts were used on this and fixing other cars!
squablow you had brass balls to tackle that project, but it turned out awesome. what part of mississippi did you get the donor from?
