Alot of folks (myself included) have been asking about the Mustang rad in a model A, well I did it this weekend and it fits good. Here is how I did it. I ordered and orig rad mounting kit , bout 10 bucks, comes with the bolts, rubber pads, springs, and nuts, nothing fancy, could even use hardware store stuff. I welded some 3/4 x 3/4 square tubing (compliments of a old display rack from behind the mall) to a piece of flat stock. Got a rad from a 66 Mustang off ebay for 35 bucks that looks brand new. because of the additional 3/4", I had to drill new holes in my crossmember, only about 1/4 outside of existing holes. If you are real lucky, the rad will have the "clipbolts", and all you have to do is drill 4 holes through th uprights, and mount the rad. Then I drilled thru the side of the rad shell, to mount it to the uprights(will do it nicer for the final shell, but this one is onlt a temp one. Then I attached the orig hood support rods to the top of the shell with some flat stock I just bent and drilled. Total install time was about 1 1/2 hourd, and alot of that was waiting for paint to dry and gettin another beer. Toqwik
Pictures! Sounds good. I got one hanging on the wall in the barn from when I used to restore 65-66 Mustang convertibles. Gonna use it in my 30 roadster.
no clue why 1 and 2 pics are small, can email em to ya if ya want. Also I used a 17" fan, gives me about 1 inch between blades and lower water pump hookup, lower rad hose on stang is 1 3/4 same as chevy water pump, and upper fitting is 1 1/2, same as chevy water neck. Gettin closer......Toqwik
I have one in a 32 shell for a 34 ford truck proj. I just bought, it has a sbc in it, does these keep them cool enough or do you need more cores put in them?
it should keep the chevy cool, you can get new 3 core radiators for mustangs for under $150 brand new. if that don't cut it, aluminum ones can be had for about double that.
