I don't know if this has been gone over before, but we'll give it a try. After you have worked on setting your door gaps, and need to take it apart, go inside to the hinges and drill an 1/8 hole in the middle of all the hinges all the way through the body. Then you can take the doors off and drill the same hole in the door. Now when you put them back on just put a tapered alle through both holes and tightin thr bolts, and presto door is back where it was. For those that have been welding the nuts on, this works better because if the body shifts you don't have to grind off welds.--TV
WEIRD!!! I just learned this trick last Saturday from a guy I'm trying to buy a house/shop off of. Sure coulda saved me some hassle about ten years ago. RASHY
Yeah, I have done this before...works great. You can also apply this same concept to hood hinges and decklid hinges. Just make sure you drill the holes so they will either a) be hidden from view, or b) not look out-of-place when seen. On hood inges, I find that you typically need to drill 2 holes in each, so they are lined up as before. Then,****uming you drilled 1/8" holes, a short piece of 1/8" welding rod (or broken drill bit!) makes a great line-up tool. Depending on how your fenders mount to the body, you might be able to use the same concept there. I found this helpful when mounting fenders to runningboards, too. Thanks for the tip!
Damn, that is a great Idea. I dread taking doors off, its such a pain in the***** to realign. Shoot, my confidence level has boosted a notch. Thanks!!!
