...longest thread ***le, ever! I've got a 1950 Ford stock column with the shifter still attached. In the same car I also have a sbc with a Chevy 350 transmission. Is it possible that there is a kit or that someone can help me shift the automatic trans using the stock column shifter? Any advice, comments, etc. welcomed. help! -Jake
I would find a '80s Chevy van column and install it in there. They are pretty plain and if need be, you could shorten to fit. Thing is, they are already set up for TH350. (I used a tilt one in my '33)
Well, to be honest, I just tore a 1979 Gm / Camaro steering column out of it, because it looks ... well- NOT good.
i just did it in a `49 Ford that had a 3 speed on the column. i connected it up to a th350 and it allows the use of the stock column , shifter and steering wheel sorry , i don't have a lot of pictures , but basically removed one of the shift arms from the lower end of the shift tube. on the one that was left , i drilled and tapped for set screws to lock it in place on the tube. then it's just a simple matter of using heim ends and a short threaded rod to connect to the ******. drill the end of the shift arm to accept the heim. i used a Lokar linkage kit for GM columns , it was easy to adapt. don't forget a neutral safety switch , i used a lokar ****** mounted one
Yeah I did the same thing. Easy. I had a mid 50's f100 column with manual shift. Cut one arm off and used a lokar shift rod to my 350 ******.
