hey EVILT, i dont know if you know him, but try talking to Ray over at Superior Speed in SLO, He' s out at the end of prado road, he has done some pretty *****in rivet work.
The best sources for sheetmetal tools (rivet gun, sets, bucking bars, countersinking bits, clecos ) are at places like boeing surplus where you can save quite a bit. There's a place online called the yard out of wichita kansas that has good prices. Better yet, borrow the stuff from an aircraft mechanic and have him get the rivets from work for free.
i get my rivets from www.rivetsinstock.com its jay-cee rivet company i made my own bucks though good luck zach
Thanks guys.. I do know Ray quite well.. We trade parts and stuff often. He is busy and I am busy. It is something I planned on reading up on... 5wbomber, get your own damn post... Little punk... You better get me something at speedweek. I am here building and you're out having fun....take some pics at the yard for me... EVILT
Contact these guys, I buy from them, good prices. We have br*** rivets on the Flower roadster truck......they really look "olde fashioned" http://www.bigflatsrivet.com/
I spent a winter volunteering at the Wings of Eagles museum in Horseheads, NY. My main job was lying flat on my belly in the bottom of the museum's B-17 "Fuddy Duddy" bucking rivets. We replaced a bunch of ribs and reskinned the repaired area. I didn't get to run the rivet gun but a tip I picked up is using a piece of medical cloth tape over the end of the rivetting tool to keep it from slipping. Hope this helps. Matt
