By some dumb luck I got a switch pitch turbo 400 trans. I've been readin' up on these and I've decided to use it in my Caddy behind a 472/500. I understand the theory behind the switch pitch converter, but I have no idea how to wire it and make it work in my car. Can anybody help??

ive run one in my A tudor but never got to wiring it up, from what i can tell all you have to do is put power it like with a toggle switch ,to the terminal on the side of the trans. one terminal is for the switch pitch on for the kickdown, i think normally under part throttle the switch pitch would kickdown then under more the kickdown would kickin, thats the way i understand it, you might be able to find a car with the correct throttle linkage and wiring all together and put it on your car,(because the switches were ont the throttle rod)

Thats the way i understand it at least.

Switch-pitch kicks ***! Glad to hear you are keeping it. wiring is easy, when you apply 12 volts to the pin, it goes into high stall. Many people wire it to the brake switch, so you can have high stall with brakes applied. Like at idle, which is how the factory was. But you can also wire it to a toggle switch that activated when you want it. It does not hurt to run with it on, but it does make more heat, like any high stall converter does.

There is two pins on the side of the trans, one os for the electrically applied kickdown, and the other is for the switch pitch. I *think* the top pin is for the switch pitch.

The neatest way is to buy a digital timer from Quarter Max for $70 and wire this through a relay to the brake light and set it so you stay in high stall for a couple seconds.

Thanks for the info. 12 volts to the terminal? Thats too easy! I'm sure I'll find a way to complicate it- I always do. [IMG]
