You've maybe already saw my project here (if not: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99260&showall=1). My english is really bad, but I hope you will enjoy this Tech post. I started with a PU body, cut the roof, and used it to make the rear section. But the winshield pillars was straight and, for my modified project, a roadster style windshield was necessary. As my body is a 30's french Citroen, roadster post and stanchions wasn't available or extremly rare. So, I decided to make it myself. First, I cut the pillars with a hole saw, and welded a tube piece to start to create a "stanchion" Using another tube, a little bit smaller, just ok to slide in the stanchion, I welded on it another tube, to create the main part of the post. of course, this structure was to thin, and started to make a better shape with sheetmetal. I welded 2 piece of sheetmetal, and finished to weld a third one to "box" the post. the I "caped" the tube section with a hole saw leftover Same action on the stanchion side Using tube sections and metal tab welded together, I made two "brackets" to attach the winshield frame (the original winshield frame of the PU body) to my new posts. And Voilà ! After making a hole on the caped faces, the posts can be bolted on the stanchions. I just need now to finish it, smooth it and later send them to the chrome shop. Need also to by the good bolt, nuts and washer, the one on the pics are temporary.
Great job - ingenious engineering - nice angle on the windshield - very cool looking roadster. I'll bet a neat Hot Rod like yours really turns heads over there - it would here for sure. Do some more pics when you get it on the road.
Nice out of the box thinking, the end result is very nice. Your english is fine with the related pictures.
the modified is looking good etienne. we met at hrcc garage days swap meet last year. looks like you'll be in town again for this years swap.
That thing is taking shape. I saw some of your first post on this car and I didn't think it could turn out so well. Good job.
and thanks to everyone for support my project ! next updates and the whole project detailled here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99260&showall=1
