  3. Great stuff, Anthony. Gettin' greasy as a teen set the tone for my life. You're a good influence on them. Chevy57dudette is a high school teacher. Loves to teach, refers to the classes as ''her kids''. Youngsters really respond to the positive attention. Some don't have much of a home life, either. No doubt some will come back a few years from now and thank you.

^^^^^ The old power spin and seat method.

  6. I guess.
We’re just cleaning em up and installing new seals.
    Older rebuild. Could use guides.
Engine ran great on our stand and had very good comp numbers. 150-160
    40psi oil
It’ll work for a truck that sees about 3/4k miles a year

  8. Yep. Put pressure on it from the valve side.
Turned at a slow to medium speed

Lube stem well, always keep lap compound wet, slow speed. Chatter solved.

  16. Purge with fire
    IMG_2540.jpeg
growing up, this was how we cleaned em
Students bagged and tagged the important stuff
    IMG_2542.jpeg
Clean gasket mounting surfaces and a pressure wash next

  17. Scrap yard 63 c10 door. Has the typical wrapped around the fender damage that was hacked up some time in the past. Filler around 3/8 thick and typical screw dent puller distortion
    IMG_2444.jpeg
    IMG_2517.jpeg
we got it to this point and called it done. Welded up the holes.
did the pencil trick to work the body line IMG_2543.jpeg
    IMG_2547.jpeg

  18. Valve springs had these shims
    IMG_2548.jpeg

  19. Man, that is a familiar fix! Seems most of those trucks have that damage and crappy repairs.

  20. Final clean on these old valves to get the compound off. Pressure washed the head and cleaned gasket surfaces.
IMG_2555.jpeg New o rings installed with the locks IMG_2558.jpeg
The old ones are just keeping em from falling out
    IMG_2559.jpeg IMG_2564.jpeg
    one to go

  21. Anthony, you are teaching the next generation the art of working with metal, these kids are doing some amazing work and you are to be commended, I wish we had teachers like yourself when I was in high school. HRP

  23. Neat trick. Is that light oil or water, and how much air pressure do you use?

Certainly less than what the valve spring rate is. :)

  25. Water and whatever the psi is at the regulator
    90-100
But no where near that in the port
Got a couple tiny bubbles on a couple exhaust valves. Flipped it over, set a piece of wood on top of the valve stem and banged it with a hammer.
    no more bubbles

  26. Two successes today. Froze bolt (short threaded screw) and a very rusty bearing race with no access from behind.
    IMG_2581.jpeg

  27. 63 c10 door. The outside skin is good. The inner bottom isn’t.
Students rough cut the inner then cut the spot welds for the skin.
Then separated the hem joint. Those are tough when not removing the outer.
    IMG_2584.jpeg
the inner will be final trimmed after the new bottoms are bought.
We’ll get that lip dollied amd the surface rust treated next.
