Santa Fe R.R. was replacing some track and lots of creosoted ties 20 years ago...
I drove up to a stop sign across the road and ran into something with my F100...
Got out, and looked: It was 34" of nice R.R. track, very heavy...Had to open my tailgate to swing it in.
Real road hazard... Did my citizenry duty and got it the hell out of traffic, and after a lot of polishing/shaping, changed the shape of a fair amount of 19 gauge Ford steel!

There was a posting of some guys building an immaculate '41 Willys Coupe awhile back, they had a framed steel table that supported a completely polished piece of R.R. track from both ends... Track could be turned (like a roasting spit) and locked in position for 'fine work'.
It was sooo shiny, would like to work that one. Or copy it, better!
