Sometimes the lower hose will blow off the pump when it gets very hot out. To solve this problem just drill 3 to 4 1/8" holes in the front mouth of the pump and install stainless sheet metal screws, put alittle grease on the pump and install the hose. Make sure that when you install the clamp it is behind the screw heads, this will keep the hose from ever comming off until you want it off.--TV
The reason they blow off is most of the water pumps are smaller dia. on the out side than on the inside tapered, also when they get worm they build up pressure. If you don't believe me go ahead and take the cap off when it's hot. I learned this trick after blowing one, oldtimer showed me.--TV
Another good way to keep the hose on is to install two hose clamps together on each end. It's important to run these clamps in opposite directions. By that I mean opposite direction on the same end. This torques the hose onto the end in two ways. It'll never come off that way. Excuse my Paint drawing.
