I have a newly rebuilt C4 trans that needed a tailhousing seal installed.....

Bought the seal not knowing it's a booted seal. Didn't have a tool that would help me drive it home. Looked around and tried a few different things. Here's what I found worked GREAT!

It's a center cap to my American racing Salt Flat Specials. You can see the seal fits perfectly in the center. I gently pushed the seal in the tailshaft using the new 'tool'. One good whack with a rubber hammer on the flat of the cap and it was home!!

Anyways, I needed a tool I didn't have. It was late and cold. I found something that worked. I managed to not only install the seal but not damage my expensive center cap!!

Installed driveshaft, filled trans and went in. It was late and cold.

Couple nickel n dime tasks done tonight. Used nuts as radiator spacers. Took measurements, made drawings, took pics so I can get radiator hoses. Had a friend diagnose my now confirmed crapped out ign switch. He was impressed with my seal installer.
