I did get one PM (from skullorchard), and then I sent it out as a PM to porkn******, just to see what he would say. I dig the HAMB, I'm an alliance member (2x's now), and I want to help make the site better in any way I can. I have *****ed, and I have had threads shut down - should I just get to my point now or what?????? CATAGORIES! I think the HAMB has gotten too busy, posts only stay on the first page for a short time. I read through some of the questions / sugestions before I wrote this, and it seems that sub-catagories under the HAMB heading would make it more user friendly. I come on the HAMB for limited amounts of time. I would love to have a catagory that was strickly guys/gals asking for help or advice on a specific technical issue (like my post above). OT threads(even if deleted), dead people threads, that damn photoshop thread, push boring tech question threads (where a guy could really use some help) straight to the "back of the line". I would love to help people by having a catagory that I could "click" on, and simply scan for unanswered questions, or limited responses. Sorting through all the "other stuff" / one big HAMB, makes me not able to do that. It might make the job as moderator easier. I doubt you would need to "police" - build thread catagory, tech question catagory, dead people catagory (maybe you want to change that name). Oh yeah, one more thing.......Do I need to run that spacer????? Thanks!
Hey man... we use categories... only we call them prefixes. When you make your post, give it the prefix of technical. Then, smart folks can select to view only threads with the technical prefix. I think I'd rather have categories too... But I tried that once and got like 30 death threats in the space of a weekend.
The bad thing about more catagories will be that even more Users will post stuff in the wrong forum. We only have a couple right now. But the number of Tech Questions that get posted in the Q&S Forum, and the number of Questions & Suggestions about the board on the Main Board ( and of course wanted and for sale ads... ) is really pretty unbelievable... There are lots of people that just wont read the Info that has been put up for them. Evidence of that is the multiple Threads, P/M's, & Emails of people asking why they cant post in the Cl***ifieds...
