The first is a little anniversay present for my lovely wife. It's easy to remember the date, same as a '56 Buick nailhead c.i.d., 322.lol

Second is on it's way to joerox in NJ.

Third I just finished today, it's in the classifieds if anyones interested.

dont know how this came about, but i did it nonetheless...

and then i decided to take a step back and simplify. i really like the way these came out!

and this, i think, is a perfect work of art. the most beautiful dragster front end i've ever seen....poison ivy aa/fd

Well, after witnessing the humbling quality that is Caffiene's work I am having second thoughts about posting this... Oh well. We all start somewhere. The design is solid in my opinion, but I just need more practice. I am a total perfectionist when it comes to this stuff and I just dont have that consistency to my lines yet. Fuck it... Here goes....

This is a panel I did for A32Flathead last week. It's 12x14" plexi. The back has been painted black since the photo was taken and it looks much better that way. Gimmie input!

This print is from a wood cut and it was hand printed on my letterpress from the early 1900. One of my newest creations.

and here is the press. 10 x 15 Chandler & Price Letterpress made between 1907-1911. Its fun stuff! I should be able to produce many personal hotrod related documents and fine art prints once I have everything that I need. Like the image above I have big plans for this 1800lb cast iron beast.

    The chase and lockup materials.

These are really large type 72point. I have some that are 6pt.

and finally the letterpress. It runs at about 1800 impressions per hour. Its going to suck if I ever get a hand pinched in it while printing. It has an impression strenght of about 800lbs or more at full speed.

  10. Not at the moment but I'm sure that could be added. I was going to photograph them in back of some of my guns but decided that might not be too good of an idea. Can you say ST SWPR?

  11. This has been a big couple weeks for art. Here's my latest stuff:

  15. I think you're being waaaay too critical of yourself...that is some nice striping!

KCsledz, that's cool that you're working with the old style press! I would love to see that thing in action.

We'll... i finally finished painting #4 today! It's a friends car name Billy from car club, the Road Zombies (1930 chopped Ford Model A with a Hemi)
Looks like i won't be able to finish the 6 paintings i really wanted to do for this upcoming group art show i have in S.F. on March 31st, especially because i'll be spending four days in Las vegas next week:) It's my first time to this car show and i'm very excited to go! I'll be driving ( yes, all twelve hours of it) in my Coupe all the way there. So if any you hambers are around and recognize the green Model A with bronze scallops, come up and say hello, I would be stoked to meet ya:)
best wishes and nice striping guys, lots of good stuff this week,
    CAB

  18. There are some incredibly talented stripers on this board, but never, ever have I seen someone do what Makoto did when he was in town. That man is BAD w/ a striping brush. His stuff is so perfect that it almost looks fake. Amazing.

Yeah cab what he said and you know with every one you paint they seem to get easier and faster than the last dosn't it. Great work as always I got nothing done this week so I'm just an observer. Great work guys I may go stripe my new 65 rivi tomorrow so I can sand it back off and do it again.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It not that I think I suck or anything... But I am a professional illustrator by day and I expect everything I do to be of professional standards. It'll take me a little while to get there, obviously. Luckily for me, I really enjoy this, so it's only a matter of time.

Daddy-O, those panels are rad! The gold one is killer. TONS of rhythm to that design. Good job man.

KCsledz, that letterpress owns. Old-schewl graphic design! I WISH I could even find one of those things. (A side note for you non graphic designers: check out the lead type drawer... Thats where the phrase "Mind your P's and Q's" comes from. The letters are reversed when you look at the blocks and it was really easy to mix 'em up.)

Its a long trip for a short show!

I think that my digital can capture motion so one of these days I will have to shoot a quick movie. I will work it into a tech post to make it appropriate when I do my next set of hotrod art prints. Document the whole thing. The great thing is so many people switched to offset and digital printing that this press only cost me $50 but like a hot rod its nickeled and dimed me ever since!

Thanks guys for the kind words:)
your right about it getting easier, but i'm not sure about the faster part, this one took me 20 hours this time to complete (yea i've been timing my work) just because people always ask and i could never give them an answer:( I work on them a bit each day, few nights went from 10PM -3 or 4AM in the morning just to but this one out! all four have ranged from about the 19 to 24 hour range to complete, it just depends how much detail the painting has in it. I do feel that the brush is becoming my friend these days and the brush and I are becoming one:) I bet that's how it feels after striping for so long huh? ... that would be cool to experience that, because that shit is frustrating as hell when your first starting out trying it:( I bet it just flows after time! I may have time to finish one more... we'll see!

Daddy-O ...your stuff rules, great job:)
