TECH WEEK history lesson

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Big A, May 3, 2013.

  1. Seems to be a pretty lack lustre response for Tech Week. 10 years ago there was too much off topic banter on the main board and Ryan stomped a big ol' foot down and said, "that's it fellas, next week is Tech Week. NO OFF TOPIC THREADS". Guys jumped all over it, and jumped all over anyone who posted crap during Tech Week. Over the years there has been some AMAZING stuff posted, from small little Ah-ha! forehead slapping threads to world shifting, jaw dropping craftsmanship threads. I have learned a TON from checking it all out.

Every year zman spends a lot of time compiling Tech Week threads, and Flat Ernie compiled a bunch of those threads here...

Baileigh, EMS and a bunch of others have stepped up to make this the friggin' Superbowl of Tech Weeks, and... crickets. Even the admins are talking about Hot Rod Artists instead of Tech Week?

I'm hoping someone is busy buildin' and snappin' pics and getting ready to impress the hell out of us.

    Anyone?

    So what's up?

I've got a real good one in the works but it's time consuming, might not get it done on time (as usual, for me!)

  6. I am all booked up for the next month with all my jobs. I should be able to post something for tech week. However, if any of my customers want something done "yesterday", I might be in trouble to make the deadline.

    Mtw fdu.

Does it help that I put a stock crossmembered Mustang II in '52 Chevy last week for a client and had every intentetion of photographing every step, but then got too busy to remember? Didn't even relize it until I had everything 80% done.... Dumb.

got another tech thread in the works. We have actually been working on it here at the shop for at least 3 months now. ( spare time ) we were ready for this before it was even announced! We have a tone of editing to do and picture finding... got to have the right angles you know! And out of over 400 photos, picking the precious few is the hardest!

  10. That sounds promising...

  11. Its only been running for two days give it some time it will pick up.

I really wish I had something to contribute, Tech Week is, by far, my favorite part of the HAMB, but I am pretty much a total newb to these things... Thinking of maybe doing an Electrical 101 Tech though, I do have some experience is this area...

How can anybody beat that hydroforming thread? All the rest gave up after seeing that.

although the hydroforming thread was a big achievement, complexity alone does not make the best tech tip.

the simple wow! everyone can use use this and i should have thought of that, makes for a winner too

  16. One of the very first Tech weeks had a Scandanavian HAMBer doing hydroforming, I believe they even won?
